It is reported that Deepika wasn't sure about starring in a film in which she is not playing a central character but the money offered helped sway her decision.
We informed you earlier that real-life husband-wife Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone will be seen for the first time in a film together after their marriage after the actress confirmed her role in cricket film ‘83’.
Directed by Kabir Khan and based on the life of former Indian cricket captain Kapil Dev who helped India pick the Cricket World Cup trophy for the first time in 1983, the film will star Ranveer as Kapil and Deepika Padukone as his wife Romi Bhatia. See Ranveer Singh training with Kapil Dev.
According to reports, Deepika is apparently charging an exorbitant amount to be a part of the film that does not star her in a leading role. She has reportedly been paid Rs 14 crores for the film.
Sources close to the film revealed to a publication that Deepika was in two minds regarding the film but the money offered and Ranveer’s insistence helped make her decision. The source was quoted, “She was in two minds and wasn’t sure if she wanted to play a non-central character. I think Ranveer almost convinced her, then the zeros on the cheque did the rest.”
Another angle doing the rounds is their happy ending in the film which the two have not got in any of their films --’Ram Leela’, ‘Bajirao Mastani’, ‘Padmaavat’ they end up dying in the climax.
