Ranveer plays the role of Kapil Dev in the film that is set to bring back the memories of India's historic win at the Cricket World Cup in 1983.
Ranveer Singh is currently in Dharamshala as he trains and prepares for his role in Kabir Khan’s ‘83’ that tells the story of India’s historic win in the Cricket World Cup Championship in 1983.
Sharing pictures of him training with Kapil Dev who served as the Indian captain at the time of the win, Ranveer looks elated and lost in training.
In one photo shared by Ranveer on Instagram, he wrote: "Becoming the Hurricane #KapilDev #legend #journeybegins @83thefilm @kabirkhankk."
On the film and his role, in an earlier interview, Ranveer said, "He is a legend in the truest sense. He commands such respect in the cricket fraternity and has a vast fan following.”
He added, "The story of underdogs' triumph is completely lost. There is a whole generation that needs to know.”
The movie will be released in three languages, that is, Hindi, Telugu, and Tamil.
The cast includes the likes of Pankaj Tripathi, Saqib Saleem, Chirag Patil, Sahil Khattar. The film’s shoot begins in May.
The film will release on April 10, 2020.
On another note, Kapil Dev's daughter will work on the film as an assistant director.
