Story highlights

The film is based on Indian team winning the cricket World Cup for the first time in 1983. Kapil Dev was the captain of the team at the moment.

While Ranveer Singh is doing all it takes to train to play cricket like veteran star Kapil Dev for his next film ‘83’, there’s someone else too who is quite peaked for the film.

Kapil Dev’s daughter, Amiya has turned assistant director for the film as it delves into the historic win for India at 1983 Cricket World Cup.

A source close to the production told IANS, “Amiya is just out of college. As of now, it looks like she just wants to explore different things like most bright people do. She is very helpful to us, she knows the subject, she knows all the cricketers and she has access to all of them. She is also very willing to learn.”

The film is presented by Reliance Entertainment. The cast includes the likes of Pankaj Tripathi, Saqib Saleem, Chirag Patil, Sahil Khattar. The film’s shoot begins in May.
