As of now, Ranveer has largely stayed silent on the matter.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>It is believed that the actor's exit led Excel Entertainment to seek Rs 45 crore in damages to cover extensive pre-production losses, including travel, crew setup, and scheduling, while Ranveer has also been offered his initial signing amount, reportedly Rs 10 crore, in return.</p>

<p>Stating her choice of picking performers over so-called actors, Deshpande said, "So we wanted performers rather than the so-called stars… I had worked with Ranveer on Ram-Leela and Bajirao Mastani, when he wasn’t this big. So I had worked with him when he was starting out, and I still believe those are some of my favourite films of Ranveer Singh. I find him an absolutely outstanding actor who gives it all. He transforms into a character. I love that about him, the fact that he is not Ranveer Singh in that film. When he has to become Bajirao, he becomes Bajirao. When he has to become Khilji, he becomes Khilji. When he has to become Gully Boy, he becomes Gully Boy. So he transforms; he doesn’t play Ranveer Singh.”</p><h2>Jyoti Deshpande recalls the efforts of everyone involved in Dhurandhar</h2><p>For the much-acclaimed project with Aditya Dhar, Deshpande shared how everyone in the crew wanted the film to hit the ground. She shared, "Dhurandhar is a project that overran multiple times, and I indulged it every time. I reinvented it. You know, somehow one part became two parts, but we found a way… there was mad conviction. Everyone was involved. Aditya Dhar, to begin with. And Ranveer Singh, the actor, who went all in and did nothing else for the duration of the film."</p>

<p>"Every technician who was part of that film, whether it’s cinematography, sound design, or editing, everyone was all in. We all knew we were making something that had so much purpose, so much heart, that had never been seen before, that had never been done before. And it was almost like, if we don’t do this, we’re not alive. I mean, we have to do this against all odds. So it defied everything. I had to keep finding a way to move forward and not stop," Deshpande added.</p><h2>About Dhurandhar</h2><p><i>Dhurandhar </i>is an Indian spy-action thriller film directed by Aditya Dhar. It is divided into two parts and follows a high-stakes covert operation in which an undercover RAW agent infiltrates the dangerous underworld of Lyari in Karachi, Pakistan, to dismantle a terror network and fracture the nexus between criminal syndicates and the ISI. From the heart-touching narrative and strong performances, the film became one of the highest-grossing films, earning over Rs 2,700 crore worldwide, reportedly.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Alongside Singh, the project also features acclaimed performances from several other stars, including R Madhavan, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal, Akshaye Khanna, Rakesh Bedi, Sara Arjun, and many more.</p>

Ranveer Singh’s powerful performance in Dhurandhar has everyone talking. Now, producer Jyoti Deshpande has revealed the main reason the actor was chosen to lead Aditya Dhar’s action thriller.

Ranveer Singh’s roaring performance in Dhurandhar not only shattered box-office records but also reminded audiences why he remains one of Bollywood’s most dynamic performers. As the action blockbuster continues to dominate headlines, producer Jyoti Deshpande has finally opened up about the real reason why Ranveer was chosen for Aditya Dhar’s spy thriller. Jyoti Deshpande on casting Ranveer Singh In a recent conversation with Outlook Business, Dhurandhar producer and Jio Studios CEO Jyoti Deshpande opened up about the decision to cast Ranveer Singh as the film’s lead. She said, "There were no safe things we could do because it was already an expensive film to shoot. Now, if we added expensive actors as well, it was going to render the film unviable on day one."

'Dhurandhar' conquered box offices worldwide, crossing ₹3,000 crore and cementing itself as one of 2025's biggest hits. So its Japan debut on July 10 should've been a formality — instead, it stumbled. Fewer than 900 people showed up on opening day, and the film couldn't even crack Japan's top 25 rankings.

Collections did not improve in the second half of the day either; total admissions rose to only 900 across 80 locations. Despite extensive pre-release promotions, Dhurandhar did not have many takers in Japan and sold a shockingly low number of tickets on the opening day. With only 900 tickets sold on the first day, the film failed to break into Japan’s list of top 10 Indian film openers. Notably, last year, another Indian blockbuster, Pushpa 2, also fell short of making the top 10. The biggest Indian openers in Japan The 10th spot is currently held by Salman Khan's Tiger 3 with 1,300 admissions. RRR remains the biggest Indian opener in Japan, securing 8,230 admissions on day one, followed by Saaho, Kalki 2898 AD, Pathaan, Salaar, Jawan, Rangasthalam, Devara, Baahubali 2 and Tiger 3. Dhurandhar’s box office run in India While Japan may not have been too impressed with Aditya Dhar’s film, but Dhurandhar and its sequel Dhurandhar: The Revenge has managed to create box office history in India and at the global box office. Dhurandhar: The Revenge has minted Rs 1813 crore worldwide, pushing the franchise total (with the first film) to Rs 3,019.35 crore and making it the first Indian franchise to cross the Rs 3,000 crore mark. The film has also become the highest-grossing Indian film without contributions from Gulf countries and China. The first Dhurandhar hit theatres in December 2025 and earned over Rs1,307 crore globally. The second instalment went on to become the second highest-grossing Indian film of all time after Dangal, collecting Rs 1,813 crore worldwide. About Dhurandhar The Dhurandhar ffranchise is directed by Aditya Dhar and features Ranveer Singh Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal, R. Madhavan, Sara Arjun, Rakesh Bedi, Gaurav Gera, Danish Pandor and others. Written and co-produced by Dhar, Dhurandhar’s mammoth success has changed the dynamic in Bollywood for its actors, catapulting its lead actor Ranveer Singh in the superstar league.

<p>After minting billions at the global box office, Ranveer Singh starrer Dhurandhar witnessed a shockingly poor response on the opening day of its release in Japan. The film was released in the country on July 10.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Ranveer Singh is currently making headlines after reports emerged that he earned around Rs 325 crore from the Dhurandhar franchise. The staggering figure, if true, places him alongside some of the biggest stars in Indian cinema, which include Shah Rukh Khan and Rajinikanth.</p><h2>How did Ranveer Singh earn so much?</h2><p>As per reports, instead of taking an acting fee, the actor negotiated a profit-sharing agreement that tied his earnings to the overall performance of the films, and as the two-part film did so well at the box office, the arrangement enabled him to receive a share of theatrical revenues as well as income generated from digital streaming rights, satellite deals, and music rights.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p><strong>Also Read: </strong><a href="https://www.wionews.com/entertainment/bollywood/it-s-not-a-ban-fwice-chief-advisor-on-ranveer-singh-amid-don-3-row-1779804630471"><strong>'It's not a ban': FWICE chief advisor on Ranveer Singh amid Don 3 row</strong></a></p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Reports further claim that Ranveer also invested additional funds into the production when costs increased during filming.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>According to Hindustan Times, trade estimates suggest that after adding theatrical shares, performance bonuses, and revenues from non-theatrical rights, Ranveer's total earnings from the film reached approximately Rs 325 crore.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>If accurate, the figure would be one of the largest payouts ever received by an Indian actor for a single production.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p><strong>Also Read: </strong><a href="https://www.wionews.com/entertainment/bollywood/don-3-controversy-timeline-ranveer-singh-s-exit-rs-40-crore-demand-and-fwice-action-what-went-wrong-1779807142791"><strong>Don 3 controversy timeline: Ranveer Singh’s exit, Rs 40 crore demand and FWICE action - What went wrong ?</strong></a></p><h2>Ranveer surpasses Rajnikanth, SRK</h2><p>Ranveer's earnings have also been compared to those of some of the industry's biggest names. Dhurandhar has reportedly earned Ranveer Singh staggering revenue, placing him alongside some of the biggest stars of Indian cinema. Read on to know more.

Ranveer Singh is currently making headlines after reports emerged that he earned around Rs 325 crore from the Dhurandhar franchise. The staggering figure, if true, places him alongside some of the biggest stars in Indian cinema, which include Shah Rukh Khan and Rajinikanth. How did Ranveer Singh earn so much? As per reports, instead of taking an acting fee, the actor negotiated a profit-sharing agreement that tied his earnings to the overall performance of the films, and as the two-part film did so well at the box office, the arrangement enabled him to receive a share of theatrical revenues as well as income generated from digital streaming rights, satellite deals, and music rights. According to Hindustan Times, trade estimates suggest that after adding theatrical shares, performance bonuses, and revenues from non-theatrical rights, Ranveer's total earnings from the film reached approximately Rs 325 crore. If accurate, the figure would be one of the largest payouts ever received by an Indian actor for a single production.
