US President Donald Trump said he will order federal agencies to identify and release government files related to UFOs, UAPs and extraterrestrial life, citing strong public interest in the issue.

US President Donald Trump on Thursday (Feb 19) said that he is ordering federal agencies to identify and release government files related to UFOs and aliens. Trump also accused former president Barack Obama of making a “big mistake” and leaking “classified” information in a recent interview that went viral.

“Based on the tremendous interest shown, I will be directing the Secretary of War, and other relevant Departments and Agencies, to begin the process of identifying and releasing Government files related to alien and extraterrestrial life, unidentified aerial phenomena (UAP), and unidentified flying objects (UFOs), and any and all other information connected to these highly complex, but extremely interesting and important, matters,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform.

Trump accuses Obama of ‘big mistake’

Speaking to reporters, Trump also accused Obama, saying, he “gave classified information, he is not supposed to be doing that.” While Trump did not specify what information the Democrat leaked, he claimed “he made a big mistake” over remarks made by Obama during a podcast.

When asked about his beliefs about aliens, Trump responded, “I don’t know if they are real or not.”

What did Obama say?

During a podcast interview released on Saturday (Feb 14), Obama was asked by YouTuber Brian Tyler Cowen, “Are aliens real?”

“They’re real,” Obama replied to the question, adding, “but I haven’t seen them.”

Speaking about the Area 51 base, the former president said, “They’re not being kept in Area 51. There’s no underground facility, unless there’s this enormous conspiracy, and they hid it from the president of the United States.”

A day later, the former president issued a clarification on social media, saying he was “trying to stick with the spirit of the speed round.”

He added, “Statistically, the universe is so vast that the odds are good there’s life out there. But the distances between solar systems are so great that the chances we’ve been visited by aliens is low, and I saw no evidence during my presidency that extraterrestrials have made contact with us. Really!”
