'Urgent Make An Accident': Wrongly-translated Indian highway warning signboard goes viral

An extremely wrong-translated emergency signboard on an Indian highway has gone viral as netizens found its mistranslation from Kannada to English 'humorous' in the Kodagu district of the Indian state of Karnataka.
A social media user named 'Kodagu Connect' posted the image of the signboard on X. The signboard's English warning read, "Urgent make an accident."

It is the wrong translation of the Kannada phrase "Avasarave Apaghatakke Karana," which in English means "Overspeeding is the reason for accidents."

Netizens say 'use ChatGPT'
The netizens reacted in different ways to the mistranslation, "urgent makes an accident."
Few of them questioned the efforts of the government in translating signboards into English, however, many found it amusing and laughable.
"Haste is the cause of the accidentthe real translation," said a user.
One user even recommended using ChatGPT for translation purposes. "Bro used chatgpt even for this," commented the user.
"Kannada matters not English," posted the third user. "One comma after urgent and the meaning will completely change," said the fourth user.
The fifth user wrote, "Better tag insurance agents. They will get it fixed fast."
The locals in Kodagu had installed a makeshift signboard warning travellers in March which highlighted the navigation mistake of Google.

On the signboard, travellers were asked not to follow Google's directions and opt for a different route to reach the Club Mahindra resort.
X handle of Kodagu Connect had shared the picture of the signboard which read, "Google is wrong. This road does not go to Club Mahindra."
The local villagers had put up the signboard as they got tired of lost travellers asking them for directions after losing their way while following Google Maps.
