Mohammad Rizwan breaks silence on India’s Champions Trophy travel stance
Pakistan's new ODI and T20I captain Mohammad Rizwan broke his silence on Team India’s Champions Trophy 2025 travel stance. As the BCCI confirmed denying sending Men in Blue across the border for the eight-team tournament scheduled for February-March early next year, the PCB referred the matter to the Pakistan government. Though the host board has sought ICC’s advice on the same, reports from Pakistan suggest they are mulling boycotting playing India at all levels.
Currently involved in the bilateral series against Australia Down Under, Rizwan addressed this matter ahead of the 1st T20I at the Gabba in Brisbane, saying the PCB will take the final call on this matter, adding should the BCCI decide to send the Indian Team to Pakistan, we will welcome them with open arms.

“KL Rahul, Suryakumar Yadav are all welcome. All the players who will come, we will welcome them. This is not our decision, this is PCB’s decision,” Rizwan said in the pre-match presser. “Whatever decision will take place, hopefully, they will all discuss and take the right call. But we are hopeful that if the Indian players will come, we will welcome them,” he continued.
On the other hand, veteran Pakistan keeper-batter Rashid Latif shared contrasting views on it, saying Pakistan should boycott playing India, adding had he been in power, he would have taken this bold step.
“There’s a big possibility that Pakistan can stop playing cricket against India. Had I been in power, then, yes, I may have taken this strong step. I would not blame anyone for this. If you don’t want to play (in Pakistan), then don’t play against us (at all). If I had been there, I would have taken this decision, and fought against the BCCI,” Latif said while speaking on PTI Videos.

The Champions Trophy 2025 situation
The PCB, ICC and Champions Trophy 2025 future are all in the fix relating to this situation, with the Pakistan government informing PCB of this event not going out of the country irrespective of the rumours of Dubai, Sri Lanka or even South Africa being considered as alternatives.
“We have been told by our government not to move any game out of Pakistan, and that will be our stand when the time comes. Right now, the ICC has just informed us about India’s decision. We have the hosting rights for the Champions Trophy so there is no way we can move the games outside Pakistan,” a PCB official said on condition of anonymity, as quoted by the Indian Express.
