Ollie Robinson claimed his 100th Test wicket as Pakistan collapsed to 100/7 in the opening session on day one of the third Test at Edgbaston in Birmingham. Pakistan made several changes, naming three debutants in their playing XI for this Test, but failed to alter their fate. Beyond the fresh faces and recalled players, including opener Saim Ayub, who departed for a 10-ball duck, batting mainstays like Shan Masood, Abdullah Shafique and even captain Babar Azam departed cheaply. Former skipper Shoaib Malik called the players' treatment disrespectful and wrote on X: "The players dropped from the squad are still our national cricketers who have served Pakistan. Phrases like ‘sent on the first flight back’ are disrespectful. Accountability should start with those who broke the system, not with players especially those who were on the bench or have played 2-3 Test matches. Plus, accountability starts once a tour is done, not in the middle of it." Shahid Afridi also didn't mince his words and wrote: "Not sure what is the logic or reasoning behind this decision! Even the replacements make no sense – T20 players have been included for a Test match in England?" Pakistan, who have now lost 10 of their last 11 away Tests, will face England in the third and final Test on September 9 at Edgbaston, Birmingham.

The PCB faces severe backlash from former coaches and players after dropping seven players and changing coaching staff midway through the England Test series following back-to-back heavy defeats.

After a disappointing ICC T20 World Cup 2026, Pakistan suffered another setback with an ODI series loss to Bangladesh. In the final match, Pakistan opted to bowl first. Bangladesh posted 290/5 in their 50 overs and despite a fighting century from Salman Agha, Pakistan could only manage 279 runs while chasing the target. Former Pakistan cricketer Kamran Akmal strongly criticized the team, questioning their decision to bowl first on a good batting pitch and said they should have chosen to bat. He also noted that Bangladesh could have scored even more, around 350 runs, but were restricted as Litton Das slowed the scoring rate towards the end.&nbsp;“You have lost the match. Pakistan suffered their first loss in the Super 8s against England in Kandy on Tuesday (Feb 24) by two wickets; however, what adds pressure to their quest for a semifinal berth is the number of games left and their standings on the points table. With just one point in two games, considering their washed-out fixture against New Zealand, Pakistan sit in third place with -0.461 NRR, making it highly challenging for them to confirm a semifinal spot from here. So how can Pakistan qualify for the T20 World Cup semifinal after narrowly losing to England? Let’s check out all scenarios.<h3>The easy and simple route</h3>For Pakistan to qualify for the semifinal, they must at least collect three points. With England already punching their ticket to the final four for the fifth straight time, Pakistan has a chance to become the second team from this group to do so.&nbsp;&nbsp;Also read | <a href="https://www.wionews.com/sports/timely-shakeup-ravi-shastri-welcomes-india-loss-as-ricky-ponting-urges-best-xi-for-zimbabwe-match-t20-world-cup-1772008353498">'Timely Shakeup': Shastri welcomes India’s loss as Ponting urges ‘best XI’ for Zimbabwe match</a> &nbsp;The easiest route is for New Zealand to lose their remaining two matches against Sri Lanka and England, respectively, and Pakistan to beat the tournament’s co-host in their final Super 8 tie to advance. Pakistan’s semifinal chances at T20 World Cup: Beat Sri Lanka and pray for other results

T20 World Cup 2026 | 'Infighting in Pak team?:' Shaheen Afridi blames batters for loss vs England

Former India captain Sunil Gavaskar has criticised Pakistan’s players and cricket board for threatening to skip their group-stage match against India in the ICC T20 World Cup 2026. The match, scheduled for Feb 15 in Colombo, may not take place after the Pakistan government said the team will play in the tournament but will not face India in the group stage. If Pakistan sticks to the boycott, India would win by default. However, Gavaskar believes Pakistan could still reverse their decision and play the match.&nbsp;“I think in the next four or five days, when reactions start pouring in from across the world and even from their former players, there is a possibility that Pakistan will change their stance. Pakistan players have set examples. They keep coming back from retirement. However, Gavaskar believes Pakistan could still reverse their decision and play the match. “I think in the next four or five days, when reactions start pouring in from across the world and even from their former players, there is a possibility that Pakistan will change their stance. Pakistan players have set examples. They keep coming back from retirement. So something like that might happen before the 15th,” said Gavaskar to India Today. The Pakistan cricket team has always been known for doing something out of the box, and most of the time, that something becomes internet famous for the wrong reasons. A similar 'out of the box' incident happened during the Pakistan vs Sri Lanka Asia Cup 2025 match in Super Four stage on Tuesday (Sep 23). And, at the forefront of this latest faux pas was Pakistan skipper Salman Ali Agha whose gesture during the national anthem caused eyes to pop up at his country again.<h2>Salman Agha's national anthem gesture raises eyebrows</h2>Pakistan players were standing side-by-side to each other while their national anthem played in the stadium. Skipper Agha was at the left end of the line with his right hand on the shoulder of the player next to his right. While all the other players had their right hand to heart during the national anthem, Agha did the same with his left hand and it is not a pretty picture. Have a look at it below:

This is not the first time that Pakistan have been hit by a national anthem faux pas. In their match against India in the group stage when the DJ played Jalebi Baby song instead of the actual anthem which became very embarrassing for the team.<h2>What is Pakistan's national anthem code of conduct</h2>It may not come as a surprise but Pakistan does not have a national anthem code of conduct. Historically, the general and other army officials have been standing in attention until General Zia ul Haq decided to put hand on the heart in the 70s to what seems like West inspired. Benazir Bhutto then followed General Zia's gesture and then some cricketers decided to do it as well without uniformity, as reported by an Express Tribune Pakistan article back in 2018.

The <a href="https://www.wionews.com/tags/champions-trophy" rel="dofollow">ICC Champions Trophy</a> host and holders, Pakistan, went winless in the home edition after rain forced a washout in Rawalpindi in their last league game against Bangladesh on Thursday (Feb 27). Pakistan staged the first ICC event in almost three decades, having last co-hosted the ODI World Cup in 1996, and ended up on the losing side in two contested mamatches&mdash;ainst New Zealand and India.
After going down in the two marquee matches in Group A, <a href="https://www.wionews.com/cricket/host-defending-champions-pakistan-out-of-champions-trophy-after-new-zealand-beat-bangladesh-in-rawalpindi-8753319" rel="dofollow">Pakistan&rsquo;s highly-anticipated campaign ended in misery</a> just six days into the tournament. Although their loss to the Kiwis in the curtain-raiser was hurting for the fans to watch, losing to India in their next match in Dubai crushed their hopes of advancing to the next round.
They still, however, had a game in hand (against Bangladesh) to play and win and end the first showpiece event of the year with at least one win, but the Rain Gods had other plans.

However, even before the India-Pakistan match, reports of rain playing spoilsport in Pakistan&rsquo;s last home game, potentially spoiling their chances of sealing a semifinal berth, did rounds on the internet.
Knowing Pakistan had already lost one game (to New Zealand) by then, a win over India would have made it three points, which were not enough had India and New Zealand ended with four points each.

Pakistan has seen contrasting results in the past fortnight.
While chasing over 340 against New Zealand during one of the home tri-series games brought joy to the fans worldwide, getting eliminated from the home ICC tournament and becoming the first team to do so in this edition hurt them even more.

Not for the first time did Pakistan suffer such a result in an ICC tournament. During the 2023 ODI World Cup in India, Pakistan failed to reach the semis despite the playing conditions favouring them throughout. What followed next was worse.
At next year&rsquo;s T20 World Cup in the Americas, Pakistan lost to the co-host USA in their first game before going down to India in their next. Although they beat Canada in a relatively closer contest, a washout against Ireland sent them packing from the preliminary round.&nbsp;
At this year&rsquo;s Champions Trophy, Pakistan were upbeat about putting the past behind them and delivering powerful performances; however, none of that happened, as they ended the home campaign with zero wins from three matches, with just one point coming from the washed-out result against Bangladesh.&nbsp;

While chasing over 340 against New Zealand during one of the home tri-series games brought joy to the fans worldwide, getting eliminated from the home ICC tournament and becoming the first team to do so in this edition hurt them even more. Also read | Watch - Dressing room erupts in joy after Afghanistan win first Champions Trophy match Not for the first time did Pakistan suffer such a result in an ICC tournament. During the 2023 ODI World Cup in India, Pakistan failed to reach the semis despite the playing conditions favouring them throughout. What followed next was worse. At next year’s T20 World Cup in the Americas, Pakistan lost to the co-host USA in their first game before going down to India in their next. Although they beat Canada in a relatively closer contest, a washout against Ireland sent them packing from the preliminary round. At this year’s Champions Trophy, Pakistan were upbeat about putting the past behind them and delivering powerful performances; however, none of that happened, as they ended the home campaign with zero wins from three matches, with just one point coming from the washed-out result against Bangladesh. Waqar Younis sees Pakistan rocking in Champions Trophy 2025; Amir backs Babar Azam to hit top form

Has anyone ever complained of being good-looking? Perhaps not, but Pakistan cricketer Ahmed Shehzad feels his charming looks and how he talked made some seniors &lsquo;jealous&rsquo; in the dressing room, eventually leading to his exit from the national side.
Shahzad was an attacking opener during his playing days, doing the bulk of new-ball facing across formats. Having played several ICC tournaments, including a few T20 and a 50-over World Cup, Shehzad has the distinction of winning the Champions Trophy title with Pakistan &ndash; in the last held edition in 2017.

Speaking on a podcast with Pakistan&rsquo;s Ahmed Ali, Shehzad didn&rsquo;t mince his words in accepting that not form, not fitness, but good looks troubled him in gelling with his teammates inside the dressing room.
&ldquo;Being good-looking has caused me a lot of problems. In our field, if you look good, know how to dress, and speak well, some people start to resent you,&rdquo; Shehzad said in a podcast with Ahmed Ali.
&ldquo;I&rsquo;ve been a target within the Pakistani team for this. I&rsquo;m not defending myself here, but others have also faced this. If your fan following grows and people appreciate you, it&rsquo;s hard for some senior players to accept,&rdquo; he added.
&ldquo;We come from small areas. I lived in Anarkali, Lahore, and when I gained recognition, I worked on grooming myself and improving my personality. But this has also caused significant problems within Pakistan,&rdquo; the out-of-favour opener added.
<h2>When PSL owners kept him out deliberately&nbsp;</h2>
A cricketer-turned-YouTuber, Shehzad, earlier alleged that Pakistan Super League (PSL) owners used to deliberately keep him out of the side despite him doing fairly well in the domestic and National T20 Cup tournaments in the lead-up to that.

Pakistan cricket team will not travel to India for the 2026 T20 World Cup. The Men in Green will play their games in Sri Lanka, who are the co-hosts for the mega event. This development comes after the International Cricket Council (ICC) reportedly accepted the hybrid model for the 2025 Champions Trophy (CT 2025) on Friday (Dec 13). The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) denied sending Team India to travel to Pakistan, i.e. the original hosts, for the marquee tournament. Hence, the Rohit Sharma-led team will play their games in Dubai. Following this, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) have also been allowed to not travel to India for the next edition of the T20 WC.

HERE ARE SOME KEY DEVELOPMENTS POST THE ICC-PCB-BCCI meeting:

– ICC gave the green signal to the Champions Trophy to be held in a hybrid model, after an agreement with PCB and BCCI.
– CT 2025 games will be held across three venues in Pakistan with India games in Dubai.
– BCCI and PCB have agreed in principle that Pakistan will not travel to India for the India-Pakistan match in the 2026 T20 World Cup. Thus, the high-voltage clash will take place in Colombo, Sri Lanka (the co-hosts).&nbsp;

The PCB has also been given the hosting rights for the ICC Women's tournament after 2027. It will mark the first time for the Asian giants to host a marquee event in women's cricket.&nbsp;

All this after a lengthy saga between ICC, PCB and BCCI regarding the CT 2025 future, which will be held in February-March 2025. While the hybrid model was expected to be the only way out, it has also solved the issue for the next big ICC event in men's cricket, i.e. the T20 World Cup in 2026.&nbsp;

However, there is no word regarding PCB sending their team to India for the 2025 ICC Women's ODI World Cup. A final call is likely to be out in a few months.

Pakistan to not travel to India for 2026 T20 World Cup, will play their games in Sri Lanka: Report

Kamran Ghulam struck a maiden one-day international century as Pakistan beat Zimbabwe by 99 runs in Bulawayo on Thursday to seal a 2-1 series victory. His 103 helped Pakistan reach 303-6 in 50 overs at Queens Sports Club -- a total Zimbabwe never looked like bettering and were all out for 204 in 40.1 overs.

It was Pakistan's 56th victory in 65 ODIs against Zimbabwe.

After losing a rain-shortened first match in the southern city by 80 runs last Sunday, the tourists bounced back to wallop the home team by 10 wickets two days later.

Pakistan captain Mohammad Rizwan said: "I am proud because we lost the first game and expectations from the country were high. We came back to win the series and that has given us confidence. Away matches are always difficult, always different from home."

Pakistan won the toss, opted to bat and after the loss of opener Saim Ayub with 58 on the scoreboard, Ghulam took centre stage.

Initially cautious, the No. 3 batter gradually accelerated the run rate and put on 54 for the second wicket with opener Abdullah Shafique.

Having posted a half century, Shafique fluffed an attempted sweep and was trapped leg before by Pakistan-born all-rounder Sikandar Raza. His 68-ball knock included a six and five fours.

<h2>Torment</h2>

Ghulam continued to torment the Zimbabwe bowlers with various partners, striking four sixes and 10 fours off 99 deliveries before becoming the fourth Pakistani wicket to fall, caught at deep cover by Clive Madande off Richard Ngarava.&nbsp;

Raza and Ngarava took two wickets each for Zimbabwe, but at a heavy cost, conceding 102 runs between them. The last five overs were particularly expensive as Pakistan added 69 runs.

Zimbabwe began disastrously in response to the formidable Pakistan total, with openers Joylord Gumbie and Dion Myers out and just 10 runs on the board.

Veteran captain Craig Ervine made 51 in a 63-ball stand that included six boundaries, one six before dragging an Aamer Jamal bouncer on to the leg stump.

Raza, often the Zimbabwe saviour, also fell to Jamal for 16, caught at deep square leg after mistiming a short delivery from the fast medium pacer.

Zimbabwe and Pakistan begin a three-match Twenty20 international series in Bulawayo on Sunday. The tourists then head to South Africa for an eight-match all-formats tour, including two Tests.

Kamran Ghulam’s maiden ODI hundred seals One-Day series for Pakistan against Zimbabwe

Pakistan's new ODI and T20I captain Mohammad Rizwan broke his silence on Team India’s Champions Trophy 2025 travel stance. As the BCCI confirmed denying sending Men in Blue across the border for the eight-team tournament scheduled for February-March early next year, the PCB referred the matter to the Pakistan government. Though the host board has sought ICC’s advice on the same, reports from Pakistan suggest they are mulling boycotting playing India at all levels.

Currently involved in the bilateral series against Australia Down Under, Rizwan addressed this matter ahead of the 1st T20I at the Gabba in Brisbane, saying the PCB will take the final call on this matter, adding should the BCCI decide to send the Indian Team to Pakistan, we will welcome them with open arms.

“KL Rahul, Suryakumar Yadav are all welcome. All the players who will come, we will welcome them. This is not our decision, this is PCB’s decision,” Rizwan said in the pre-match presser. “Whatever decision will take place, hopefully, they will all discuss and take the right call. But we are hopeful that if the Indian players will come, we will welcome them,” he continued.

On the other hand, veteran Pakistan keeper-batter Rashid Latif shared contrasting views on it, saying Pakistan should boycott playing India, adding had he been in power, he would have taken this bold step.&nbsp;

“There’s a big possibility that Pakistan can stop playing cricket against India. Had I been in power, then, yes, I may have taken this strong step. I would not blame anyone for this. If you don’t want to play (in Pakistan), then don’t play against us (at all). If I had been there, I would have taken this decision, and fought against the BCCI,” Latif said while speaking on PTI Videos.

<h2>The Champions Trophy 2025 situation</h2>

The PCB, ICC and Champions Trophy 2025 future are all in the fix relating to this situation, with the Pakistan government informing PCB of this event not going out of the country irrespective of the rumours of Dubai, Sri Lanka or even South Africa being considered as alternatives.

“We have been told by our government not to move any game out of Pakistan, and that will be our stand when the time comes. Right now, the ICC has just informed us about India’s decision. We have the hosting rights for the Champions Trophy so there is no way we can move the games outside Pakistan,” a PCB official said on condition of anonymity, as quoted by the Indian Express.

Pakistan Test captain Shan Masood has backed his teammate and star batter Babar Azam to make a stronger comeback following his omission from the Test side. After losing the first Test against England in Multan, the PCB formed a new selection committee, which took harsh calls, including dropping Babar and the seam duo of Shaheen Afridi and Naseem Shah for the remaining two Tests. Pakistan, however, went on to win the last two games and the first Test series at home since 2021.

Masood, who, alongside the coaches, was restricted to match-day decisions only, hails Babar, saying his omission will do more good to him than any harm. Masood added that he is no one to comment&nbsp;on Babar’s Test future but added that this break from cricket will benefit him.

"I think he's one of the best batsmen in the world. I'm nobody to [say he doesn't have] a future. He has every quality to be one of the greatest batsmen in Test cricket. He's always there or thereabouts in the rankings. Sometimes, people need a break,” Masood said during the chat with the BBC Stumped radio programme.

Babar has been in poor form lately, having not hit a Test hundred since December 2022 and in international cricket across any format since August 2023. His mediocre run with the bat cost Pakistan several times, both home and away, putting pressure on him, the captain, the team management and the selectors to justify his selection.&nbsp;

With Babar being picked for the Australia ODIs, starting Monday (Nov 4) in Melbourne, the selectors have restored faith in him to return fresh and with some runs under his sleeves.

"I think this break will do him a great deal of benefit and he'll come back a stronger player. There's no harm in being pulled out at times and having a breather. He's played a lot of cricket, and gone through a lot, and he'll always be one of the main batsmen to play for Pakistan,” Masood said.

<h2>Masood clears air on viral interview with Ramiz Raja</h2>

After winning the final Test in Rawalpindi, former Pakistan captain and PCB chairman Ramiz Raja conducted a post-match interview with Masood. His questions on how Masood led the side to six defeats before winning two matches against England made it very awkward for all present there and the viewers watching.

Though a short clip of that interview went viral, with Raja facing severe criticism for the same, he came out explaining what he meant in a separate video on his YouTube channel. Speaking on that, Masood said, "There are no hard feelings from my side.&nbsp;

"I've always been an open book in front of the media and tried to conduct myself in the best possible way. People have every right to ask questions however they want. I want to give the best account of myself and for my character to be reflected the way I am. I'm good at taking constructive criticism, and I'm also good at filtering stuff out,” he continued.&nbsp;

Gary Kirsten has stepped down as Pakistan’s white-ball head coach with immediate effect. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) appointed Kirsten in April 2024 on a two-year deal, and six months into the job, the Protean decided to part ways just a week ahead of the Australia ODIs and T20Is. The board announced bowling coach Jason Gillespie as his replacement on an interim basis.

Following PCB’s decision to snatch away the selection powers from Kirsten and bowling coach Jason Gillespie, allotting it to the newly-formed selection committee, the rift began between all parties concerned. Though Kirsten remained quiet about this development, Gillespie tried concealing it in the lead-up to the third Test between Pakistan and England in Rawalpindi, saying his role is now reduced to a ‘match-day analyst’ and that ‘he didn’t sign up for this.’

The reports also suggested that the delay in the squad announcements for the Australia and Zimbabwe series was due to the animated discussions within the board, where Kirsten was keen to have his inputs taken into consideration.&nbsp;

On Sunday (Oct 27), at the time of unveiling Muhammad Rizwan as Pakistan’s new white-ball captain during a presser in Lahore, PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi was accompanied by Aaqib Javed, a new member of the selection committee and newly-appointed vice-captain Salman Agha. Head coach Kirsten was not even in the country at that time.

Meanwhile, shortly after Pakistan lost the first Test in Multan, an emergency meeting was called, where a new selection committee was formed, which included former cricketers and an ICC panel coach, Aleem Dar. With the PCB handing over the majority of powers to this new committee, which resulted in them winning their first series since 2021, thanks to fruitful changes to the playing XI and conditions for the remaining two Tests, the coaches felt sidelined with this call.

The PCB has named&nbsp;Gillespie as his replacement&nbsp;on an interim basis.

However, there’s a cache here. Aaqib Javed is said to have his eyes set on that position in the longer run, and who knows if PCB decides to bring him on board as the head coach.

Meanwhile, Pakistan will play three ODIs and as many T20Is Down Under, starting with the first ODI in Melbourne on November 4.&nbsp;

On Day 1 of the second Test between Pakistan and England, Shan Masood-led ended proceedings at 259 for 5 after opting to bat first in Multan. The hosts are under pressure after losing the first Test, also held in Multan, by an innings despite posting 556. Following the series opener, the PCB announced that Babar Azam, Shaheen Afridi and Naseem Shah are being rested for the remainder of the Test series. This led to widespread reactions from all corners and former Pakistan captain Ramiz Raja also spoke at length on Babar's omission during the opening day's play of the second and penultimate tie on Tuesday (Oct 15).

Ramiz, while speaking to Mike Atherton and Nasser Hussain on the sidelines of the second Test, said, "It should have been Babar’s call (to be given rest) whether he wanted time out of the playing XI or not. It was a kneejerk reaction, new selectors in. The general opinion was he needed rest and he was taken out of the squad completely."

Notably, Babar has been woefully out of form in Tests, having scored his last half-century in whites in Dec 2022. He has played 18 innings without a 50-plus score and returned with scores of 30 and 5 in the series opener. Thus, he was rested for the remainder of the series.&nbsp;

Ramiz further opined, "We need to understand he sells cricket for Pakistan and there is always this debate happening in Pakistan on whether it’s going to be another failure for Babar Azam or whether he is going to make a comeback and that keeps things interesting." He added, "Right now, I don’t see any sellable commodity in this Pakistan team. The sponsors are a little wary as well because Pakistan have been on a losing sequence and there are no real superstars playing in this Test match."

Pakistan cricket team is in shambles. The Men in Green couldn't reach the 2023 ODI World Cup semifinals, in India, got whitewashed in the three Tests versus hosts Australia, lost five T20Is to New Zealand 4-1 in New Zealand, lost to USA in the 2024 T20 World Cup and failed to make it to the Super 8s. After that, they also got whitewashed by Bangladesh in a two-match Test series at home. They have not won a Test at home since early 2022.

Thus, former Pakistan cricketer Zaheer Abbas opined on the men's national team's downfall in recent times, especially in Tests. He slammed the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and also made a big claim about the players.

Abbas was quoted as saying by news agency&nbsp;ANI, "There's too much T20 cricket being played in Pakistan, and because of that, our players have forgotten the essence of Test cricket. This is why we're not performing well in the longer format. So much money has come into cricket that the players today are only focused on making money, and their attention is diverted from the game itself."

Players are only focused on making money: Zaheer Abbas on Pakistan's downfall, lashes out at PCB

Pakistan cricket is in a tottering state with the men's team having a terrible run, across formats, since the 2023 ODI World Cup. At present, the pressure is on the women's team to shine in the ongoing 2024 T20 World Cup, in UAE. Amid all this, there are reports flowing in that the Babar Azam-starrer men's team have not received salaries for the last three months. Moreover, the situation is the same for the women's&nbsp;side who are playing the T20 WC without being paid since June.

According to a report by&nbsp;PTI, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) are yet to clear the salaries of the last three months for the men's team. "For the last three months the players are waiting for their payments and also an announcement of the central contracts list,” said the source, highlighting the growing frustration among players.

Notably, the previous central contract agreement between the PCB and players, many aspects such as significant benefits, including salary increases were negotiated. Players in Category A, featuring the likes of Babar, Mohammad Rizwan and Shaheen Afridi, earn monthly retainers of 4.5 million rupees after tax deductions. In addition, they receive a share from logo sponsorships as well as three&nbsp;percent of the revenues the PCB generates from the International Cricket Council (ICC).

This year, players' share of ICC revenue comes to approximately 1.53 million rupees each. However, payment delays have led to huge&nbsp;concerns. In addition, the report cites&nbsp;that the PCB has attributed the delay to administrative issues and pending revenue from various sources.

"The PCB is spending a lot on the complete facelift of the three stadiums in Karachi, Lahore, and Rawalpindi for the ICC Champions Trophy, besides other cricket-related expenses. But the dues of players would be cleared this month," the source further said.

Future central contract increments, slated for 2024-25 and 2025-26, does promise a substantial rise&nbsp;in players' earnings. In Category A, retainers are expected to see a rise to 2,070,000 rupees a month, with corresponding hikes for players in Categories B, C, and D. However, all this seems out of the picture due to the current administrative delays.

Interestingly, the situation&nbsp;for the women's team is no better. The women's team as well as the domestic players and Pakistan Super League franchises are&nbsp;facing considerable payment delays. A Cricbuzz report&nbsp;informed that the women's team is playing the T20 WC, which started on Oct 3, without being paid since June.

"Last year also the central contracts announcement was delayed right until the World Cup began in India, and this year there is more delay," said the source. With no official contract list released as of now, the frustration is growing among&nbsp;players as they await clarity from the PCB.&nbsp;

Talking about the Fatima Sana-led Pakistan&nbsp;team, they opened their campaign in the T20 WC with an impressive 31-run win over Sri Lanka, in defence of 116, on Thursday (Oct 3) in Sharjah.
