Akmal is currently part of a Pakistani&nbsp;channel's cricket panel for the ICC T20 World Cup. During the India vs Pakistan match at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York on Sunday (Jun 9), Akmal made fun of Arshdeep as the pacer prepared to bowl the final over of the match.&nbsp;

"Kuch bhi ho sakta hai...12 baj gaye hai (Anything can happen, it's 12 already),” Akmal said laughing.&nbsp;

“Kisi Sikh ko nahi dena chaiye 12 baje over (No Sikh should be given the over when it is 12)," another guest on the show could be heard adding to Akmal's joke.

While Akmal made racial jokes about Arshdeep, the left-arm seamer went on to bowl an excellent last over that helped India win the match, despite posting a modest target of 120.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Last year, Harbhajan took down former Pakistan skipper&nbsp;Inzamam-ul-Haq over the latter's comments that the ex-Indian spinner was close to converting his religion after meeting a Muslim scholar.

Inzamam alleged that Muslim players in the India squad&nbsp;(referring to Irfan Pathan, Mohammed Kaif and Zaheer Khan) used to join the Pakistan players for prayers. During the prayers, Harbhajan indicated that he wanted to follow one of the Muslim scholars, added Inzamam.&nbsp;

However, Harbhajan did not take kindly to Inzamam's allegations&nbsp;and gave a strong reply.

"What is he drinking before speaking such nonsense? I am a proud Indian and a proud Sikh...these worthless people speak anything (Yeh kon sa nasha pee kar baat kar raha hai? I am a proud Indian and proud Sikh..yeh Bakwaas log kuch bi bakte hai)," posted Harbhajan.&nbsp;

'Shame on you': Harbhajan Singh slams Pakistan's Kamran Akmal for racist joke on Arshdeep Singh

Pakistan's hopes of qualifying for the Super Eight stage of the ongoing T20 World Cup were dealt a huge blow on Sunday (Jun 9) after an embarrassing defeat against India. The tame manner in which Pakistan went down against their arch-rivals&nbsp;came days after USA handed them a drubbing in the Super Over.&nbsp;

Having lost the two opening matches, Pakistan's fate in the tournament where they were the finalists two years ago, depends on a series of events that need to fall in their favour.&nbsp;

<h2>Here's how Pakistan can still qualify:</h2>

Pakistan have zero points after two matches and even if they win the remaining matches, their total points tally will only reach four. India and USA already have four points in their bag and thus Pakistan will be hoping that either of them lose their remaining matches.&nbsp;

India face USA in their next match on June 12 and the matchup will be crucial from Pakistan's point of view. A win for either of the two teams will secure a Super 8 berth. India are the heavy favourites but even if USA suffer a loss, they will still have the destiny in their own hands.&nbsp;

In case USA loses both matches and Pakistan wins out, it will all boil down to the Net Run Rate. Currently, Pakistan have a negative run-rate (-0.150) while India (+1.455) and USA (+0.626) boast of healthy scoring rate. Hence, Pakistan will not only have to win but win heavy in the remaining matches.&nbsp;

However, if any of USA's match is washed out, Pakistan will automatically exit the tournament.&nbsp;

<h2>Pakistan lose against India</h2>

Pakistan lost the match in front of a packed Nassau County International Cricket Stadium crowd after failing to chase a lowly target of 120. Indian bowlers, led by Jasprit Bumrah, produced a masterclass in how to defend a total.&nbsp;

"It feels really good. We felt we were a little under and the wicket got a little better after the sun came out. We were really disciplined so it feels good. Tried to hit the seam as much as I could, tried to be as clear as I could with my execution and it all came out well so I felt happy," said Bumrah after the match.&nbsp;

The biggest turning point in the match came in the 15th over when Bumrah came in for his second spell and castled Rizwan on the first ball. Pakistan capitulated after Rizwan's wicket and ultimately fell short by six runs.&nbsp;

T20 World Cup: How Pakistan can still qualify for Super 8 after loss against India

Former Pakistan captain Wasim Akram went on an explosive rant against the men's senior team after it lost the T20 World Cup match against arch-rivals India in a tame manner.

Former Pakistan captain Wasim Akram went on an explosive rant against the men's senior team after it lost the T20 World Cup match against arch-rivals India in a tame manner. The legendary speedster went after Mohammed Rizwan, Iftikhar Ahmed and Fakhar Zaman among others for not keeping their cool when the situation demanded it. Pakistan lost the match while chasing a lowly target of 120 as Indian bowlers, led by Jasprit Bumrah, produced a masterclass in defending a total. "They have been playing cricket for 10 years, and I can't teach them. Rizwan has no game awareness," Akram told host broadcaster Star Sports. Pakistan were going at a steady clip up until the 15th over when Bumrah was summoned by skipper Rohit Sharma for his second spell. Rizwan, who was the set batter at the stage, went after Bumrah on the first delivery and saw his offstump uprooted by an inswinging delivery. "He should have known that Bumrah was given the ball to take wickets and that the wise thing would have been to play his deliveries cautiously. But Rizwan went for a big shot and lost his wicket," added Akram. Also read | T20 World Cup: Bumrah's heroics help India floor arch-rivals Pakistan in low-scoring thriller Akram schools players Akram particularly was miffed at Iftikhar Ahmed's batting approach as the supposed finisher of the team. "Iftikhar Ahmed knows one shot on the leg side. He has been a part of the team for years but doesn't know how to bat," said Akram. Akram also pointed towards the politics in the Pakistan cricket setup where batters believe they have immunity from facing any consequence for their actions. "I can't go and tell you about game awareness, Fakhar Zaman. Pakistani players think that if they don't perform well, the coaches will be sacked, and nothing will happen to them. It is time to keep the coaches and change the entire team." "There are players who don't want to talk to each other. This is international cricket, and you play for your country. Make these players sit at home," he added. While India have all but secured a spot in the Super 8 stage after the win, Pakistan stand on the precipice of a shameful group stage exit. The Men-in-Green will have to win their remaining two matches with a big margin and hope that other results go in their favour. (With inputs from agencies)

Legendary pacer Wasim Akram goes on explosive rant against Pakistan players after capitulation vs India

Pakistan head coach Gary Kirsten blamed poor decision making for the six-run loss to India in New York, while captain Babar Azam admitted his team was far from convincing in their second T20 World Cup match. Chasing 120, Pakistan was in control till the 11th over but failed to make the most of the&nbsp;momentum&nbsp;as Jasprit Bumrah wrecked the middle order with his three-wicket haul.

Bumrah was India’s best bowler, returning with figures of three for 14, as India defended the joint-lowest total in the tournament history.&nbsp;

At a stage when Pakistan needed less than 70 runs with almost nine overs and nine wickets remaining, losing wasn’t even looking like an option. However, poor decision making regarding which bowler to target led to Pakistan’s downfall, as they crumbled under pressure and eventually lost the match, their second straight this time.

Reflecting on where Pakistan lost its momentum, Coach Kirsten said, “Maybe not so great decision making. You have got the game on, run a ball, eight wickets in hand and decision-making at that point.&nbsp;

“That's the game. That's international cricket for you. You make mistakes like that, you are going to pay. I thought we made some poor decisions at important phases of the game. I thought Rizwan played well for us. We knew it was going to be a tough wicket to bat on. We managed the chase very well but then just let it slip in the end,” he said in the post-match presser.

Instead of pointing fingers at just one or two individuals for this shocking loss, Kirsten said the whole team is responsible for the result, as none played close to their best when it needed the most.&nbsp;

"Everyone's responsible," Kirsten admitted. "We accept the loss, and we take the heat because the team has not done well. And we will do what we can to try and rectify it. I have been here for 12 days, so it is a new journey for me understanding the players that are going to win games for Pakistan, which is what you are looking for."

<h2>Tactics were there but we couldn’t convert</h2>

Admitting to failing to convert their chances against India, be it for playing too many dot balls or losing wickets at the wrong time, Babar said they failed to capitalise on the momentum, for which they are deeply disappointed.

"We bowled well after ten overs, and we would have taken 120. It's a better total here. In the batting, we went run-a-ball, but unfortunately, but we lost back-to-back wickets, and then there were too many dot balls," Babar said.&nbsp;

“Tactics were simple - play normally, just rotate the strike, and just try and play one boundary and be normal...get five or six an over. But in that period, we had too much dot balls, the pressure was on us. And we lost back-to-back two to three wickets,” the skipper added.

Meanwhile, for Pakistan to qualify for the Super Eight, they must beat Canada and Ireland convincingly and hope for India and Ireland to thrash the USA.&nbsp;

'He's not even comparable to Virat's shoes': Former Pakistan player slams Babar Azam ahead of match vs India

In the middle of the newly-built Nassau County Cricket Stadium (in New York) facing flak for producing sub-standard wickets and playing outfield, somewhere in the southern part of the USA in Dallas, Texas, cricket seemed to find a new home. The co-hosts of the 2024 T20 World Cup, the USA tasted their biggest-ever win in cricket on Thursday (June 6) by beating former winners Pakistan in a super over thriller, which was horrendous to watch for the Pakistani fans but fell in favour of cricket winning in America.

Cricket is still a growing sport in that part of the world, and the USA taking an early lead in the group headlined by two Asian giants – India and Pakistan, speaks a lot about their rise in this brief period. The USA entered the tournament on the back of their maiden T20I series win over Bangladesh. While knocking neighbours Canada in their tournament opener on June 2 strengthened their chances of going beyond the group stage.&nbsp;

Aaron Jones became a household name after demolishing the Canadian bowling attack with his unbeaten 94 off 40, which included ten massive sixes. That inning, however, entered the record books, as Jones became the batter with the most runs in a successful run chase in Men’s T20 WC.

With Pakistan facing them next, the USA had their plans set and placed well, and the only thing they required to do was execute it to perfection – which, to everyone’s surprise, they did and beat Pakistan in a super over.

At Dallas in Texas, the USA bowled first and reduced Pakistan to 26 for three inside the Powerplay. Besides denting their momentum and ego to some extent, the USA continued bowling tight lines, putting Pakistan captain Babar Azam under tremendous pressure. As a result, he failed to capitalise, scoring almost a run-a-ball 43 off 42 deliveries, hitting two sixes and five fours.&nbsp;

While Shadab Khan pressed his case for retention in the XI despite mediocre bowling lately with his 25-ball 40 knock, none of the batters could get going in the first innings.&nbsp;

On the other hand Nosthush Kenjige was the best bowler for USA, returning with three wickets, while Indian-origin Saurabh Netravalkar picked two wickets to restrict Pakistan to 159 for seven in 20 overs.

<h2>The failed attempt</h2>

Everyone hyped Pakistan’s four-men pace attack, including Shaheen Afridi, Mohammad Amir, Naseem Shah and Haris Rauf, but none could break through the USA’s batting line-up. Forget Shadab Khan’s figures, even the pacers failed to threaten the inexperienced batting attack.&nbsp;

While Amir, Naseem and Haris picked a wicket each, USA’s captain Monank Patel’s heroics led USA to close in the gap and go for the win. Following Rauf’s last over, where he conceded 14 runs, including four off the last ball (when five runs were required), the match went into the super over.&nbsp;

A nation busy with gearing up for the Celtics vs Mavericks NBA final later in the day suddenly switched the channel to watch its country pulling off the greatest upset in the tournament history. A few minutes later, that dream became a reality as the USA emerged victorious in this cliffhanger of a game.

Out of nowhere, the crowd and millions watching the TV worldwide couldn’t believe what happened. In a fraction of a second, cricket made headlines all across America, something the International Cricket Council (ICC) was eagerly waiting to happen.&nbsp;

Cricket is still a growing sport in that part of the world, and the USA taking an early lead in the group headlined by two Asian giants – India and Pakistan, speaks a lot about their rise in this brief period. The USA entered the tournament on the back of their maiden T20I series win over Bangladesh. While knocking neighbours Canada in their tournament opener on June 2 strengthened their chances of going beyond the group stage. Aaron Jones became a household name after demolishing the Canadian bowling attack with his unbeaten 94 off 40, which included ten massive sixes. That inning, however, entered the record books, as Jones became the batter with the most runs in a successful run chase in Men’s T20 WC. ALSO READ: T20 World Cup: USA Captain Monank Patel shifts attention to India after mauling Pakistan With Pakistan facing them next, the USA had their plans set and placed well, and the only thing they required to do was execute it to perfection – which, to everyone’s surprise, they did and beat Pakistan in a super over. At Dallas in Texas, the USA bowled first and reduced Pakistan to 26 for three inside the Powerplay. Besides denting their momentum and ego to some extent, the USA continued bowling tight lines, putting Pakistan captain Babar Azam under tremendous pressure. As a result, he failed to capitalise, scoring almost a run-a-ball 43 off 42 deliveries, hitting two sixes and five fours. While Shadab Khan pressed his case for retention in the XI despite mediocre bowling lately with his 25-ball 40 knock, none of the batters could get going in the first innings. On the other hand Nosthush Kenjige was the best bowler for USA, returning with three wickets, while Indian-origin Saurabh Netravalkar picked two wickets to restrict Pakistan to 159 for seven in 20 overs. The failed attempt Everyone hyped Pakistan’s four-men pace attack, including Shaheen Afridi, Mohammad Amir, Naseem Shah and Haris Rauf, but none could break through the USA’s batting line-up. Forget Shadab Khan’s figures, even the pacers failed to threaten the inexperienced batting attack. While Amir, Naseem and Haris picked a wicket each, USA’s captain Monank Patel’s heroics led USA to close in the gap and go for the win. Following Rauf’s last over, where he conceded 14 runs, including four off the last ball (when five runs were required), the match went into the super over. Explained: Why Pakistan’s loss to USA in T20 World Cup is good for cricket in America

Oracle, the computer software company, congratulated USA pacer Saurabh Netravalkar after his bowling heroics propelled his side to a stunning win over Pakistan in match 11 of the 2024 T20 World Cup, being held in the West Indies and the USA, on Thursday (local time). Netravalkar made&nbsp;headlines before the mega event when his LinkedIn profile went viral and a colleague of his revealed that he was working with him at Oracle. Notably, Netravalkar represented India in the 2010 U-19 World Cup before moving to the States to study and found a job in Oracle.

Talking about USA's win, Monank Patel &amp; Co. rode on Netravalkar's 2 for 18 and left-arm pacer Nosthush Kenjige's 3 for 30 to restrict Pakistan to 159 for 7. In reply, USA tied the game, scoring&nbsp;159 for 3, riding on their captain's 50 and vice-captain Aaron Jones' 36 not out.

In the Super Over, it was Netravalkar who held his nerves to restrict Pakistan to 13 for 1 after they were asked to chase 19 in the final six balls. Thus, Oracle left a heartfelt message for their employee.

"Congrats @USACricket on a historic result! Proud of the team and our very own engineering and cricket star @Saurabh_Netra," said Oracle.

T20 World Cup: Oracle congratulates 'engineering, cricket star' Saurabh Netravalkar after USA stun Pakistan

Pakistan captain Babar Azam blamed the team’s collective failure as reason for suffering a shocking loss at the hands of the USA at the 2024 T20 World Cup in Dallas, Texas, the other night. Pakistan’s opening game of the tournament went on till the Super Over, where the co-hosts emerged victorious, sitting at the top of the points table in Group A with two wins in as many games.

Utterly disappointed with the result, Babar addressed the media after the game, saying they failed to do well across all three departments. Be it taking on the USA bowlers upfront or trying to take early wickets despite having some purchase for the seamers, the Pakistan Team was far from their best on the day.

Praising the USA seamers for not allowing them to settle or score upfront, Babar said they clicked as a unit and made the most of the conditions - something the Pakistan team lacked.&nbsp;

The Men in Green batted first and lost three wickets inside the Powerplay, with the attacking duo of Mohammad Rizwan and Fakhar Zaman departing early. Captain Babar Azam stuck around but failed to accelerate as the USA bowlers kept it tight throughout the innings. He scored 44 off 43 balls, hitting two sixes and three fours.

"Today's wicket had help for the fast bowlers in the first six overs," Babar said at the post-match presentation.&nbsp;

"But later on, I didn't feel it was a different wicket. It settled down a bit. Because of the early start - the matches are starting at 10.30 am - the fast bowlers will obviously get a little help. There was some juice in the pitch early morning. So they utilised that and executed their plan,” he continued.

The USA owned the second innings, with Captain Monank Patel completing a crucial fifty off 38 balls during the chase.&nbsp;

The star-studded Pakistan pace attack, including Shaheen, Amir, Naseem and Haris Rauf, could pick only three wickets among them, while Shadab Khan went wicketless in his three-over spell.

"We are better than that in the bowling. We did not take wickets in the first six overs. In the middle overs, if your spinner is not taking wickets, then the pressure is on you. After ten overs, we did come back, but I think the way they finished the game in the Super Over, the credit goes to the US team,” Babar Azam said.&nbsp;

<h2>Did Pakistan take the USA lightly?</h2>

Pakistan entered this tournament as one of the title contenders, while the USA are appearing for the first time. Asked if the last edition runners-up took the newcomers lightly, Babar said they prepared for the challenges but&nbsp;failed to execute their plans.&nbsp;

"See, whenever you come to any tournament, you do the best preparation always," Babar said.&nbsp;

"You can say it's a kind of mindset. When you come up against a team like this, you relax a little. If you don't execute your plan against any team, then whatever team it is, they will make you pay. So, I believe that our execution was not up to the mark. We were doing well in the preparation, but in the match, we did not execute our plans as a team,” the Pakistan captain added.&nbsp;

T20 World Cup: Babar Azam rues collective failure for Pakistan's shocking loss to USA

Former Pakistan captain Rashid Latif has slammed the toxic fans for targetting Azam Khan for his bulky physique and lack of fitness. Former Pakistan captain Rashid Latif has slammed the toxic fans for targetting Azam Khan for his bulky physique and lack of fitness. The wicketkeeper-batter was brutally trolled after he got out to a lethal bouncer from Mark Wood and later dropped a sitter to give reprieve to Will Jacks during the match against England. "He is under immense pressure. He is being body shamed, is being trolled. Azam is an exceptional batsman in T20s," Latif was quoted as saying by newspaper The Indian Express. "He is a clean hitter, plays spinners well, has worked on his game against the pacers. I feel bad for the kid, he is only 25. He doesn’t deserve to be trolled like this," he added. Ahead of Pakistan's first match of the World Cup, a video went viral on social media, showing Babar having a go at Azam during one of the training sessions. A section of the internet believed that Babar called Azam a 'Gainda' (slang for overweight people in subcontinent), while another section thought that it was some other innocuous Punjabi slang. I have written all these things on a poster in my room, and every day before going to the training I look at them and it gives me the extra confidence to do well,” Azam had revealed on Tabish Hashmi’s show ‘Hasna Mana hai’. Azam has been donning the wicketkeeping gloves despite captain Babar Azam having Mohammad Rizwan in the squad. In the last two World Cup editions, Rizwan has been the first pick for the men-in-green, however, the team management have preferred Azam for this year's marquee tournament. 'He's being bodyshamed': Former Pakistan captain comes in defence of Azam Khan

Ahead of their marquee encounter versus India at the 2024 T20 World Cup, the Pakistan cricket team has landed itself in trouble. Before their T20 WC opener, where they face USA on June 6 in Dallas, Babar Azam &amp; Co. is said to have hosted a dinner party for fans in the USA. Apparently, the fans were invited for a 'meet and greet' session with the Pakistani players. However, the invite wasn't&nbsp;free and fans were said to have been charged&nbsp;$25 (INR 2,000 approx).

Thus, this has not been well received by the Pakistan cricket fraternity. Former Pakistan wicketkeeper-captain Rashid Latif was left fuming and he took to social media to make the shocking claims. He further highlighted that the programme was organised by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and players.

On social media platform X, formerly Twitter, Latif posted a video and claimed that the fans were charged for the 'meet and greet' session. "There are official dinners, but this is a private dinner. Who can do this? It's terrible. That means you met our players in 25 dollars. God forbid, had there been a mess, people would have said boys are earning money," Latif said in the video.&nbsp;

T20 WC: Before India clash, Pakistan players SLAMMED for charging fans for a private dinner

Reappointed Pakistan captain Babar Azam admits the high-octane India-Pakistan clash at any level is full of pressure, but keeping a cool and calm head helps. As both arch-rivals get ready for the marquee tie in New York in the 2024 T20 World Cup on June 9, Babar reflected on some ‘hits and misses’ from the last edition, where they lost to the Men in Blue in a thriller at the MCG.

Speaking on PCB’s podcast, released on the team’s official social media handles, Babar admits losing to Zimbabwe was the lowest point in that tournament and that Pakistan should have beaten India, given their position in that game at one stage.

Although Pakistan played the final against England, they began poorly, losing two straight games against Zimbabwe and India. Against the African nation, Pakistan fell shy of the target, going down in the last over while India’s Virat Kohli single-handedly won the game against them in the match ‘dubbed as the best’ in the competition history.

“For me, in 2022, we could and should have won the India game, but they took it away. The most hurtful was the defeat against Zimbabwe. It hurts more because we had played good cricket against India, and people were praising our performance and fightback," the Pakistan captain recalled two heartbreaking losses in the previous edition.&nbsp;

<h2>People talk about the India-Pakistan game everywhere</h2>

India vs Pakistan is the mother of all clashes, especially in cricket. Their history and current status on the international ground make this clash interesting for the fans to watch, and Babar thinks on the same line.&nbsp;

Placed together in Group A alongside the tournament's co-host, the USA, Canada, Ireland, India and Pakistan will square off at the newly-built 34,000-capacity Nassau County Cricket Stadium in New York.&nbsp;

Speaking on the craze that tags along with this game, Babar said nothing tops this match as it’s full of pressure, and everyone talks about India vs Pakistan.

"We know the Pakistan-India fixture generates more discussion than any other match."

"Wherever you go in the world, you'll have people talking about the India-Pakistan match with everyone supporting their country. Every fan eagerly waits for this fixture and focuses on this one particular match."&nbsp;

"Obviously, the expectations and the hype around this match cause some nervousness. It all comes down to how you handle it, and the more you focus on the basics, the easier it will be for you as a player."&nbsp;

"It's a game of immense pressure, and if you keep your head cool, stay calm and trust your hard work and skills, things will be easier," Babar said.

The most hurtful was the defeat against Zimbabwe. It hurts more because we had played good cricket against India, and people were praising our performance and fightback," the Pakistan captain recalled two heartbreaking losses in the previous edition. Shahid Afridi claims Suresh Raina deleted controversial post on his insistence

Pakistan speedster Shaheen Shah Afridi reportedly refused to be the vice-captain of the national side for the upcoming T20 World Cup in the USA and West Indies. On Friday (May 24), the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced its squad for the marquee event which will be led by Babar Azam. Afridi, who was stripped of the captaincy in the T20 format, however, was reportedly approached by the PCB to take the deputy role during the T20 World Cup.

<h2>Afridi rejected deputy role</h2>

According to a report by Espncricinfo, Afridi quickly turned down the offer to become the vice-captain. He was unhappy with the manner in which he was stripped of the captaincy role while there was no concrete explanation given by the PCB. The 24-year-old was handed Pakistan’s T20 captaincy after the ODI World Cup when Babar Azam resigned from his role. However, a 4-1 series defeat to New Zealand and a poor Pakistan Super League (PSL) campaign as captain, saw PCB strip Afridi off the captain’s role.

While the action did not go well with the pacer, PCB tried to convince Afridi to take the vice-captaincy role. However, Afridi was determined to not take the role which therefore resulted in Pakistan announcing the 15-man squad without a designated vice-captain.

T20 World Cup 2024: Shaheen Shah Afridi rejected vice-captaincy despite PCB’s request - Reports

Following their loss to Ireland in the first of the three T20Is early this month, the Pakistan Team have decided to deploy a more attacking approach heading into the T20 World Cup in the Americas, per Fakhar Zaman.

Following their loss to Ireland in the first of the three T20Is early this month, the Pakistan Team have decided to deploy a more attacking approach heading into the T20 World Cup in the Americas, per Fakhar Zaman. The left-handed batter said the loss pushed the side to work on their mindset and intent, adding their target now is to score 200 plus batting first in the marquee event. In the leadup to the 20-team tournament starting on June 2, Pakistan played five T20Is against New Zealand at home, drawing the series 2-2, beating Ireland 2-1 on their first leg of the UK Tour, and now they face England in the four-match T20Is – of which the first match got washed out due to rain. As they face the Poms in the second T20I in Edgbaston on Saturday (May 25), Pakistan will look to execute what they promised – an attacking start to the game. Addressing the issues that have held Pakistan’s progress in recent years, Fakhar said no one likes losing, and only after that defeat against Ireland that Pakistan decided to go all-out in their pursuit of a second T20 World Cup title. ALSO READ: Indian cricket in a nutshell - No T20 World Cup-bound player in IPL 2024 Final "After we lost that first game against Ireland, after that, the mindset that we made, the body language was very different," Fakhar said. "Nobody likes to lose; we understand that. But after that first match, the mindset that we have, if we continue that you will see a different side. "We have meetings after every game, and the mindset we have now is that our target batting first is to make 200 or 200-plus. I am talking about this mindset, that if we go into the World Cup with it… there's always talk about our batting, though the bowling is world-class. What I'm saying is, our batting, the mindset that we have, and are batting with, you'll see we will play for 200-plus. You'll see the intent,” he continued. ‘Excited to work with Kirsten’ With plenty happening within the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), from change at the top to new coaches joining the side after regular intervals, the players cannot find themselves in peace and solace. However, Gary Kirsten’s appointment comes as sunshine for the Men in Green, with Fakhar saying everyone enjoys spending time with the new head coach. He added that Kirsten likes meeting everyone and talking to them about their game, helping them have more clarity and communication at the forefront. "Too many new coaches," Fakhar said of Kirsten. "But Gary is such a great guy. He is new, but we don't feel he is new because the day he arrived he gelled with the team. He likes to talk to everyone. He likes to hear our story, how we play cricket and his own culture. We're very excited to work with him. "He hasn't had that much time, but his mindset, the way he sits and talks with us like we're friends, I really liked that. The World Cup is so close, so I'm not going to listen to anyone right now [about his own batting]. If you tinker stuff with a tournament so close it's not easy. So, I'm going to keep playing the way I am and then will work with him after that,” he added.

Pakistan's Fakhar Zaman sends warning signs, says 'You will see change in our intent at T20 World Cup'

Mohammad Amir and Imad Wasim will have all eyeballs on them as Pakistan will announce their final 15 for the 2024 T20 World Cup on Friday (May 24). Per the latest reports, the Men in Green wanted to play a few matches on their UK Tour before publically announcing their T20 WC squad.

Per the latest reports, the Men in Green wanted to play a few matches on their UK Tour before publically announcing their T20 WC squad. Although they won the three-match series against Ireland (2-1), the first T20I against England in Leeds got washed out due to rain. Pakistan take on England in the second game of the four-match series in Edgbaston on Friday, but the squad announcement is likely before that. Reappointed captain Babar Azam’s batting position will be a matter of discussion, as PCB selectors will pick the final squad from the 18-man team sent on the Ireland and England tour. With Haris Rauf returning from injury, Pakistan released seamer Hasan Ali from the squad, hinting at the possible pace attack for the 20-team tournament starting June 2 in the Caribbean and the USA. Ahead of taking over as Pakistan's white-ball coach, Gary Kirsten opened up on how he wants to ease things for Babar Azam. Babar recently got reappointed as the limited-overs captain and will lead the Men in Green in the 2024 T20 World Cup in West Indies and the USA in June. Kirsten stated that he, along with his coaching staff, will want Babar to play with more freedom citing his recent 42-ball 75 in the three-match T20I series finale versus Ireland in Dublin.

Babar played with a lot more freedom and was in his attacking best in the Ireland-Pakistan series decider, with the scoreline tied at 1-1.

On Pakistan's over-dependence on Babar, Kirsten said on Talk Sport, "It is not fair on any player. He shouldn't feel like he has to be contributing all the time to a team. I've been in touch with Babar. He's done remarkably well and carries a lot of the weight of the team on his shoulders."

Pakistan's limited-overs coach Gary Kirsten shares his take on Babar Azam, aims to 'take pressure off' him

Given his two-decade coaching credentials, Gary Kirsten’s appointment as Pakistan’s white-ball coach is a masterstroke. Although he hasn’t joined the team in person yet, Kirsten remains aware of the challenges he will deal with in the Pakistan Cricket camp.

Having tasted success as a coach with the Indian Team before, Gary is no stranger to the dressing room environment in South Asian teams, vowing to help players unlock their mental blocks. With the ninth edition of the T20 World Cup beginning on June 2 in the Caribbean and the USA, Kirsten said he knows the aspects he will work on in the Pakistan team’s quest of tasting success at the 20-team tournament. The Men in Green are drawn in Group A alongside arch-rivals India, co-hosts USA, Canada and Ireland. Praising the Babar Azam-led Pakistan side, Gary said, like most people watching, he also gets mesmerised by the talent in the team but also remains aware of what’s stopping them from breaking barriers and winning everything in front of them. ALSO READ: T20 World Cup is not far away: Watson asks Hardik to step up with the bat in MI's last game in IPL 2024 "Everyone always talks about watching some of these players play on any given day and getting mesmerised by their abilities," Kirsten said in a chat with talkSPORT. "But in the short time I've had in connection remotely with the team, one can pick up very quickly what the potential blockages are. And I guess it's my role as a coach, to assist in unlocking the natural ability that they have,” he added. Kirtsen ready to clear the mess Pakistan cricket has gone through enough since the dismal 2023 World Cup campaign in India, where they failed to reach the semis despite favourable conditions. Pakistan lost to Australia (0-3) in the away Test series afterwards before losing to New Zealand 1-4 in T20Is. Although they drew the five-match series (2-2) against a second-stringed Kiwi team at home in April, they won the away three-match series against Ireland (2-1). Moreover, Babar Azam was sacked as the captain after the 2023 WC debacle, with Shaheen Afridi named the new T20I skipper for the New Zealand series, only for Babar to replace him again as the white-ball captain heading into the marquee event. Speaking on these lines, Kirsten said his coaching experience has taught him one thing about the teams that fail to win despite the plethora of talent, which is factions – something he knows how to deal with. "I've been around the coaching circuit enough to know that pretty much any team environment that's not winning, you will get factions. The fact is, it could be highlighted even more in certain cultures and environments. The one thing about being a coach of over 20 years now is that you get a little bit more thick-skinned. And that's the one thing I did learn from Bob [Woolmer], by the way. "He had a really thick skin by the end of his coaching career. Because you're just trying to do as best a job you can, accepting the fact that when the team's not doing well, there's always going to be a whole bunch of criticism," Pakistan’s new coach noted. Meanwhile, Pakistan will play England in the four-match T20Is starting May 22 in Leeds. (With inputs from agencies)

The undated video of Anwar's unhinged rant has gone viral on social media with netizens questioning how a player of his calibre could have such a narrow worldview.&nbsp;

“Since women have started working in Pakistan, divorce rates have climbed by 30 per cent in the last three years," Anwar said in the video.&nbsp;

“The wives say, ‘to hell with you, I can earn myself. I can run a household on my own'. This is a whole game plan. You will not understand this game plan unless you find guidance,” he added.

Anwar also claimed that during his travels abroad, New Zealand captain Kane Williamson had raised the issue of societal disruptions due to women entering the workforce.&nbsp;

“I have travelled the world. I am just returning from Australia, Europe. Youngsters are suffering, families are in bad shape. Couples are fighting. The state of affairs is so bad that they have to make their women work for money,” Anwar said.

"New Zealand's captain Kane Williamson called me to ask, ‘How will our society get better?'... The Australian mayor said to me, ‘Our culture has been destroyed since our women entered the workforce’," he added.&nbsp;

He achieved this feat with Pakistan’s seven-wicket series-levelling win against Ireland in the second T20I in Dublin. Although among the top playing nations, Babar is ahead of second-placed Eoin Morgan (42) by five more wins, he surpassed Uganda’s captain Brian Masaba (44) for the most wins for a captain across all men’s T20Is. While Babar holds the top spot, the legendary Indian duo of MS Dhoni and Rohit Sharma are tied at 41 wins each besides their names, sitting on the fifth and sixth spot, respectively. However, the seasoned pair of Mohammad Rizwan and leftie Fakhar Zaman bailed the side out of trouble with blistering strokes. While Rizwan continued with his signature T20I style of play, Zaman pressed the accelerator early on to put his team in a commanding position. Hitting six sixes and as many fours, Fakhar scored 79 off 40 balls before getting caught in the deep. The wicketkeeper-batter Azam Khan made his presence felt right away, striking four massive sixes and a four in his brief stay (30* off ten balls) at the crease, as Pakistan completed the run chase inside 17 overs with seven wickets remaining. Rizwan also remained unbeaten on 75 off 46 balls. The final T20I will take place at the same venue on Tuesday (May 14).

That unbeaten knock helped him get into the 50s average bracket in the T20Is – a rare feat. Ace Pakistan seamer Mohammad Amir has finally received his Irish visa following a delay in obtaining one for unknown reason, as he will fly to Dublin to join his team ahead of the second T20I on May 12.

Ace Pakistan seamer Mohammad Amir has finally received his Irish visa following a delay in obtaining one for unknown reason, as he will fly to Dublin to join his team ahead of the second T20I on May 12. Earlier, the Irish consulate denied Amir the visa for the series beginning on May 10. Meanwhile, after Amir was denied the visa in the first place, the PCB contacted the Ireland Cricket Board to make necessary arrangements for his visa approval. Although the sources close to the information revealed that PCB was given no specific reason behind his visa delay, it mainly happened because of a technical issue, which is now resolved. Fans had a field day trolling the Pakistan men's cricket team after their newly appointed white-ball head coach, Gary Kirsten, held the first meeting with the players via video conferencing. The South African is currently in India, working for the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise, Gujarat Titans as the batting coach.&nbsp;

While Kirsten connected through the video call, the Pakistani players could be seen present in the conference room, taking note of what their new coach was instructing.

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), posted a video of the meeting on its social media handles which instantly led to mass trolling, as some suggested that Pakistan team might start playing 'online cricket'.&nbsp;

"How do players learn from a coach through a laptop screen?" said one user, while another commented: "Only in Pakistan. A WFH coach for the national team."

A third added: "There was a man called MICKEY ARTHUR who was the ONLINE ZOOM coach of Pakistan Cricket. That was the ruining moment of Pakistan Cricket. Hopefully Gary Kirsten will join the team soon. Most likely in ENG series."

<h2>Kirsten appointed by PCB</h2>

After being appointed the white-ball head coach, Kirsten&nbsp;revealed his ultimate goal was to unite the otherwise fragmented Pakistan team.&nbsp;

"It's a tremendous honour to be entrusted with the responsibility of coaching the Pakistan men's national team in white-ball cricket and to rejoin the international cricket arena after some time. I eagerly anticipate this opportunity and aim to contribute positively to the Pakistan men's national team in limited-overs cricket," said Kirsten.&nbsp;

"My goal is to unite Pakistan men's white-ball team, harnessing their talents towards a common objective," he added.&nbsp;

Under Kirsten, Pakistan will be eager to take giant strides in&nbsp;limited-overs format. They had a miserable run in the 2023 ODI World Cup, in India, where they failed to make it beyond the group stage of the tournament.&nbsp;

The South African's first major assignment will be the 2024 T20 World Cup, where one-time winners Pakistan is in Group A along with India, Canada, USA and Ireland.

Kirsten won the 50-over World Cup with India in 2011, while managing a roster full of stars. His big challenge with Pakistan, however, remains managing the fragile egos within the team and the upper PCB hierarchy.&nbsp;

The South African's first major assignment will be the 2024 T20 World Cup, where one-time winners Pakistan is in Group A along with India, Canada, USA and Ireland. Kirsten won the 50-over World Cup with India in 2011, while managing a roster full of stars. His big challenge with Pakistan, however, remains managing the fragile egos within the team and the upper PCB hierarchy. (With inputs from agencies)

Pakistan has named seamers Haris Rauf and Hasan Ali in the 18-man squad for the Ireland and England T20Is starting May 10. Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) said they will announce the final 15 for the 2024 T20 World Cup among these chosen 18 players before May 24 (the deadline).

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) said they will announce the final 15 for the 2024 T20 World Cup among these chosen 18 players before May 24 (the deadline). Besides these two pacers, keeper-batter Azam Khan and all-rounder Salman Agha also got picked. Pakistan will play seven T20Is in the UK, three against Ireland and four against England, before leaving for the Caribbean and the USA for the 20-team tournament. While returnees Mohammad Amir and Imad Wasim retained their places for the UK tour, Pakistan dropped spinner Usama Mir and seamer Zaman Khan. ALSO READ: BCCI to offer Mayank Yadav a pace-bowling contract as LSG seamer set to miss IPL 2024 with injury Meanwhile, Hasan Ali, who last played a T20I two years ago in 2022, has been recalled for his star performances in PSL 2024, where he picked 14 wickets, at par with Shadab Khan and Shaheen Afridi. Rauf, dropped for the home T20I series against New Zealand, returns as PCB seeks to name the best 15 for the marquee event. Maintaing balance is key Considering the slow nature of the pitches in the West Indies and the USA, Pakistan wishes to keep its hands full in the spin-bowling department, with the inclusion of Salman Agha. The 30-year-old will pair up with Abrar Ahmed, Iftikhar Ahmed, Imad Wasim and Shadab Khan in the squad, fighting for a spot in the final 15 for the T20 World Cup. "Crafting this squad was a challenging task due to the outstanding talent available. After thorough deliberation and considering various cricketing aspects, we have finalised these 18 players," the PCB said in a statement. "The squad encompasses a robust top-order featuring Babar Azam, Fakhar Zaman, Mohammad Rizwan, Saim Ayub, and Usman Khan; an effective middle-order with Azam Khan, Iftikhar Ahmed and Muhammad Irfan Khan; versatile all-rounders in Imad Wasim, Shadab Khan and Salman Ali Agha; a pace battery led by Mohammad Abbas Afridi, Mohammad Amir, Naseem Shah, Haris Rauf, Hasan Ali and Shaheen Shah Afridi; and the spin prowess of Abrar Ahmed. "We understand Usama and Zaman will be disappointed, and they should be as they must be looking ahead to the tours of Ireland and England. They are quality cricketers and have long careers ahead of them. They need to continue to focus on their cricket so that they are available if required,” it concluded. Here is Pakistan’s 18-man squad for Ireland and England T20Is – Babar Azam (c), Abrar Ahmed, Azam Khan, Fakhar Zaman, Haris Rauf, Hasan Ali, Iftikhar Ahmed, Imad Wasim, Mohammad Abbas Afridi, Mohammad Amir, Mohammad Rizwan, Muhammad Irfan Khan, Naseem Shah, Saim Ayub, Salman Ali Agha, Shadab Khan, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Usman Khan

ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024: Latest updates of all squads named so far

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has proposed three venues – Lahore, Karachi and Rawalpindi, in the initial draft shared with the ICC for hosting the 2025 Champions Trophy.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has proposed three venues – Lahore, Karachi and Rawalpindi, in the initial draft shared with the ICC for hosting the 2025 Champions Trophy. The tournament, scheduled for the mid-February-March window next year, will see the return of an ICC tournament to Pakistan after a gap of nearly 30 years. The Men in Green are defending champions, having last won against arch-rivals India in 2017. Although the ICC had then decided to scrap this tournament, they brought it back in 2022, including it in the new rights cycle (2023-27), with Pakistan getting the hosting rights. The 2025 Champions Trophy will be an eight-team tournament played across two weeks, the exact dates of which are not revealed yet. The hosts - the PCB, had finalised the venues and the schedule following the ICC team’s visit. ALSO READ: PCB boss defends players’ military training after injuries denied Pakistan series win over NZ "We've sent the schedule for the matches in Pakistan for the ICC Champions Trophy," PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi said during a presser in Lahore. "The ICC's security team came, and we had a very good meeting. They looked at arrangements here, and we'll also share stadium upgrade plans with them. We're continuously in touch with the ICC. We are trying to ensure we host a very good tournament in Pakistan,” Naqvi continued. Although India has remained firm on not travelling to Pakistan for the marquee event, the latest draft submitted to the ICC has India’s games scheduled in Pakistan. However, as per the process, after the draft is submitted, it goes through various changes, after which it is shared with the broadcaster and the remaining participating boards before the final schedule is announced. India’s stance a worry for Pakistan Owing to frosty relationships between both governments across borders, India has not toured Pakistan since last visiting them during the 2008 Asia Cup. However, both teams only play each other during Asia Cup and ICC-related tournaments, with the Indian government barring bilateral ties between both countries. Last year, when Pakistan was supposed to host the Asia Cup, India’s call to not visit the country forced them to go ahead with the hybrid model, with Sri Lanka joining in as the co-host. However, given the tight scheduling, involving multiple franchise-based T20 leagues worldwide, the ICC will have to find the right window to host the 2025 Champions Trophy in Pakistan.

On Sunday (April 28), the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) appointed Australia's former Jason Gillespie as the senior team's Test coach whereas South African legend Gary Kirsten became the new white-ball coach. Kirsten and Gillespie are proven coaching names in world cricket. After Kirsten's appointment, who has also served as India and SA's coach in the past, the former cricketer revealed his ultimate goal with the Babar Azam-led Men in Green white-ball team.

<h2>'It's a tremendous honour'</h2>

Speaking on his appointment, Kirsten said,&nbsp;"It's a tremendous honour to be entrusted with the responsibility of coaching the Pakistan men's national team in white-ball cricket and to rejoin the international cricket arena after some time. I eagerly anticipate this opportunity and aim to contribute positively to the Pakistan men's national team in limited-overs cricket."

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief Mohsin Naqvi has defended players’ military training session in Kakul with some of them getting injured and not playing in the five-match T20I series against New Zealand, which ended in a 2-2 draw.

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief Mohsin Naqvi has defended players’ military training session in Kakul with some of them getting injured and not playing in the five-match T20I series against New Zealand, which ended in a 2-2 draw. Following a ten-day training camp with Pakistan’s military, ending on April 8, three players, including Azam Khan, Mohammad Rizwan, and rookie Irfan Niazi, suffered muscle injuries. While keeper-batter Azam Khan missed the entire series with a calf injury, Rizwan and Niazi got sidelined for the final two T20Is with hamstring injuries. Backing the training camp, the PCB boss said that considering Pakistan cricket’s fitness levels are below par compared to other countries, this camp was necessary, with fitness training having nothing to do with players pulling up their muscles. ALSO READ: IPL 2024: Will Jacks hits maiden hundred as RCB register back-to-back wins Naqvi also noted that this is just the beginning, and players will undergo similar sessions in times to come to ensure they are at par with players from other teams concerning fitness. "Injuries never occur due to fitness training," Naqvi said. "People have got various theories around how to make players fit. Fitness has never been a focus of Pakistan management in the past." "I am not criticising anyone that came before me, but look at players from the rest of the world. Pakistan players' fitness is well below that. This is just the start; we will have to ramp up player fitness even more. If I need to bring in fitness experts from around the world, I will,” he continued. Playing cricket led to injuries Azhar Mahmood - Pakistan’s coach for the New Zealand series, said those injuries happened while playing cricket and not because of the training camp in Kakul. "Kakul training had nothing to do with cricket," he said. "The injury the players sustained happened [while] playing cricket, and the training had to do with physical fitness. If the players were injured, they wouldn't have played the first game. And Azam Khan was not injured before the series, he was injured in the nets,” he noted. Naqvi also said that he informed the players during PSL this year that he has organised this camp to work on their fitness, speed and ability to hit massive sixes. "When I was watching the matches in Lahore, I don't think a single one of you hit a six that went into the stands," Naqvi said earlier. "Whenever a six like that was hit, I used to think a foreign player must have hit that. I have asked the board to make a plan that gets every player's fitness up to speed. You'll have to make a proper effort for that,” he had said.

PCB boss defends players’ military training after injuries denied Pakistan series win over NZ

Pakistan captain Babar Azam and head coach Azhar Mahmood defended the team’s tactics following a seven-wicket defeat against New Zealand in the 3rd T20I on Sunday while admitting that the home team was below par in Rawalpindi. Batting first, Pakistan scored 178 for four in 20 overs, with the new-look Kiwi team chasing the total inside 19 overs. Both, however, lauded Shadab Khan’s late cameo in the end for propelling the hosts&nbsp;past 170.

Despite turning a blind eye to the dipping scoring rate during the middle overs, where Pakistan managed 51 runs for the next seven overs right after the Powerplay, Babar admitted it was a good toss to win and put runs on the board; he, however, noted that his team scored at least 10 runs less than what they should have on this batting paradise.

While Babar said Pakistan caught up with the scoring rate at the death with some out-of-the-world smashing from Shadab, he pointed out Mohammad Rizwan’s injury as the reason behind the break in the momentum in the first innings.

“We did well with the bat,” Babar said at the post-match presentation.&nbsp;

“I don't think it [the slowdown] made much of a difference because we had caught up in the end. You can say we were ten runs short. Unfortunately, we had a bit of a setback with [Mohammad] Rizwan's injury because it wasn't easy for new batters.”&nbsp;

“But Shadab recovered well and had an outstanding partnership with Irfan [Khan]. In Pindi (Rawalpindi), 180-190 is a par score,” Pakistan's captain added.

<h2>Pakistan’s game to lose in Pindi</h2>

Pakistan got off to a flyer, with Saim Ayub and Babar completing a 50-plus run stand inside the Powerplay. However, after Ayub’s dismissal on 32 off 22, Pakistan saw a dip in the scoring rate. Later, Shadab Khan walked in and smashed 41 runs in 20 balls, including&nbsp;four fours and two sixes.&nbsp;

But New Zealand, without their 15 first-team players, had different plans, with attacking batter Mark Chapman delivering with his match-winning unbeaten 87 off 42 balls, whacking four biggies and nine boundaries.

Speaking on what went wrong, head coach Mahmood admitted his team was at least 20 runs short. Though he credited Chapman for his knock, Mahmood admitted his team needs to work on the flaws to avoid repeating the same mistakes.&nbsp;

"We were 15 to 20 runs short," he said. "We started very well, our score in the first six overs was 54, which is very good. In the end, Shadab's innings was excellent. In the middle period, we were slow. Between overs seven to ten, and then 11 to 15, the ball was gripping and we slowed down."

"These are the things we have to learn to improve. But you have to pay credit to the way Chapman played. In T20 cricket, if one man stands up, he can take the game away from you,” the head coach noted.

Meanwhile, the five-match series is tied at 1-1, with the fourth T20I scheduled on Thursday (April 25) in Lahore.&nbsp;
