
Rishi Kapoor was laid to rest on March 30 in the evening after he passed away in the morning. The Mumbai police gave the Kapoor family permission to perform the last rites with only 20 people -- friends and family. While Rishi Kapoor’s son Ranbir performed the last rites, one person who missed seeing him was daughter Riddhima Kapoor Sahni. Riddhima had sought permission to fly till Mumbai to attend the last rites but it came too last minute. It was speculated that she was to drive down from Delhi to Mumbai, covering 1400 km but that too seemed improbable.

Riddhima, who couldn’t attend the funeral, had to make do with a video call. That picture of Alia Bhatt standing close to Ranbir’s mother as family members encircle Rishi’s body is the one where she is seen in a video call with Riddhima. WIth a phone in her hand, Alia helped Riddhima see her dad’s face for the last time before he was put to rest forever.

What an irony for Riddhima, who had only today in the morning shared a tribute post for her father in which she wrote that she will miss their FaceTime -- something that the father-daughter would do everyday.
The Kapoors’ loss seems even more difficult during lockdown as people who wanted to be with the family are finding it next to impossible to meet them.
