Russia-Ukraine war: Kyiv orders mandatory evacuation of children from Donetsk over 'enemy bombing' concerns

Ukraine on Sunday (August 4) announced the mandatory evacuation of children and their guardians from its Donetsk region. An announcement of the evacuation order said that "the enemy" was bombing every day.
Russia, in recent days, has been claiming advances in the region, reports AFP news agency.
"The enemy is bombing the towns and villages of these communities every day, so it was decided to evacuate children with their parents or other legal representatives," said Donetsk governor Vadym Filashkin, listing towns and villages located in directions where warring Moscow claims it had gained ground.
The Donetsk governor revealed that 744 children and their families had to be relocated to four regions of Ukraine. He said that he has instructed "that only armoured vehicles be involved in the process of evacuating children, as the enemy is actively using first person view drones in these communities."
"We must make every effort to protect our children," he Filashkin.

Filashkin has been advising civilians in the area to evacuate due to increased deadly Russian airstrikes in recent weeks, reports AFP.
Novoselivka Persha liberated, claims Russia
This announcement comes just hours after Russia announced that its forces have "liberated the settlement of Novoselivka Persha" area in Eastern Ukraine's Donetsk region.
In recent weeks, Russia has claimed to have taken a string of villages in the Donetsk region, — many consisting of just a few streets.
Russia claimed to have annexed the Donetsk region, along with three others in eastern and southern Ukraine, in 2022. However, the warring nation doesnot have full control over any of them.
