
After playing a match-winning knock for Team India in the final of the T20 World Cup, Virat Kohli has added another feather to his glorious cap. Kohli is not just the king on the field, but also off-field, with his social media posts garnering several likes and comments. His latest post, where he posted pictures of him and Team India lifting the cup, is now the most-liked Instagram picture in India. He has officially beaten Sidharth Malhotra and Kiara Advani's wedding pic which earlier held the title.
Kohli's T20 World Cup post has been liked over 18 million times, while Kiara-Sid's post stands at 16.26 million. Kohli has over 270 million followers on Instagram. He posted pictures of Team India lifting the trophy, followed by pictures of him with the trophy in the locker room with the Indian flag wrapped around his shoulders.
He wrote, "Couldn’t have dreamt of a better day than this. God is great and I bow my head in gratitude. We finally did it. jai hind."
Kiara Advani's wedding post had picture-perfect snapshots from her wedding ceremony and received massive praise from their fans. The couple dethroned another celebrity wedding post, that of Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt that had received 13.19 million likes.
The crown for the most liked Insta post is neatly placed on the head of Argentinagreat Lionel Messi. The star footballer's post on his team celebrating the FIFA World Cup victory has garnered 75.3 million likes.
Kohli might not have clicked throughout the tournament, but he stood his ground at just the right time. Kohli played a brilliant knock in the final, scoring 76 runs, while holding on to one end as wickets fell in quick succession early on. He later cemented a partnership with Axar Patel to take India to a decent score of 176. After the win, Kohli announced that he would be bidding adieu to the T20 format, calling his exit an "open secret".
Along with Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Ravindra Jadeja have also exited the shortest format.
