Punjab Nabha jailbreak: Punjab police shoots dead wanted criminals Vicky Gounder, Prema Lahoriya

The Punjab police have shot dead wanted criminals Vicky Gounder and Prema Lahoriya in an encounter on Friday evening.

The two criminals were wanted in the Nabha jailbreak of 2016.

While Vicky Gounder was accused to be the mastermind of the infamous jailbreak, the other killed in the encounter was his associate. 

The two were shot dead in Muktsar village near Punjab-Rajasthan border.

Two policemen have also sustained injuries in the operation.


Ten gunmen had stormed into a jail in Punjab on November 27, 2016, and freed six men.

Vickey Gounder was one of the convicts who was freed in the operation. 

The gunmen also freed Khalistan Liberation Force chief Harminder Singh Mintoo.

The men who entered the jail wearing police uniforms, fired over 100 rounds at jail authorities after they stormed into the premises.
