Lok Sabha elections 2024: Congress wins seven seats in Punjab

The Lok Sabha elections 2024 exhibited a resurgence for the Congress in Punjab, where the grand old party wonseven constituencies,surpassing the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).

- Ferozepur
- Gurdaspur
- Anandpur Sahib
- Ludhiana

The ruling AAP won in Hoshiarpur, Sangrur and Anandpur Sahib.

Top Points:

- Congress' Sukhjinder Randhawa won the Gurdaspur Lok Sabha seat by a margin of 82861 votes. He was pitted against BJP’s Dinesh Singh Babbu.

- In Amritsar, Congress candidate Gurjeet Singh Aujla won by a margin of40301 votes against AAP's Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal.

- In Fatehgarh Sahib, Congress candidate Amar Singh won as he polled 332591votes. He was pitted against AAP’s Gurpreet Singh GP.

- The grand old party's Sher Singh Ghubaya won the Ferozepur seat as he got 266626 votes. He defeatedAAP’s Jagdeep Singh Kaka Brar.

- The former Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi won the Jalandhar constituency by a margin of175993 votes. He defeated BJP's Sushil Kumar Rinku.

- Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee President Amrinder Singh Raja Warring won theLudhiana constituency and defeated BJP’s Ravneet Singh Bittu.

- Congress nominee Dharamvira Gandhi won Punjab's Patiala Lok Sabha seat and defeatedBJP candidate Preneet Kaur.

- Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD)'s Harsimrat Kaur Badal wonin Bathinda.

- AAP’s Raj Kumar Chabbewal won in Hoshiarpur against Congress’s Yamini Gomar.

- AAP’s Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer won in Sangrur against SAD (Amritsar) Simranjit Singh Mann.

The polling was held in the state of Punjab in the seventh and final phase of the Lok Sabha elections, which was on June 1.

As per the Election Commission's data, the state's voter turnout was 62.80 per cent. During the 2019 Lok Sabha polls, the state had recorded a voter turnout of 65.96 per cent.
