United States is an accomplice in Israel's war in Gaza and cannot be considered a neutral mediator as it supplies the regime with weapons of war, Iran's acting foreign minister Ali Bagheri Kani wrote on his x account late on Friday (August 16) night.
"In response to a phone call with the Prime Minister and the Foreign Minister of Qatar Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, we exchanged views on the developments of the second day of talks to halt the Zionist regime’s genocidal war on Gaza," wrote Ali Bagheri Kani on the social media platform
Kani said that the process and results of the Friday talks in the Qatari capital Doha remain inconclusive due to several reasons. The latest issues and obstacles to reaching a ceasefire agreement include the persistent state of war in the blockaded Palestinian enclave of Gaza.

Bagheri Kani further noted that the United States is an accomplice in Israeli crimes against Gaza residents by supplying weapons of war to Israel.
"I also emphasised the use of all capacities to force the Zionist aggressors to stop the massacre and crime in the Gaza Strip," said Kani.
Meanwhile, the US Secretary of State Antony Blinken is set to arrive in Israel on Sunday (August 18, 2024) as part of Washington's ongoing diplomatic push to achieve a ceasefire in Gaza aimed to end the 10-month-old war between Israel and Hamas.
The top US diplomat's tenth trip to the region since the war began in October 2024 comes days after the United States put forward bridging proposals that it and mediators Qatar and Egypt believe would close gaps between Israel and Palestinian militant groups, including Hamas.
More than 40,000 Palestinians have been killed as a result of Israeli military action in Gaza since the 7 October Hamas-led attack on Israel, the Hamas-run health ministry said.
