A woman in Pennsylvania received an electricity bill of a whopping US$284 billion, just days before Christmas and she remembers her eyes popping out. Identified as Mary Horomanski, she brought the issue to notice by narrating the incident to a local newspaper. Speaking to the newspaper, she said, “We had put up Christmas lights and I wondered if we had put them up wrong." Although the entire amount on the bill wasn't due until November 2018, that is almost one year from now but she would have had to pay a monthly minimum of $28,000. She explained, "It was like, well, I guess we have a year to come up with this billion-dollar bill." "My heart was beating fast and that I started to sweat", she added. Much to her relief, the multi-billion-dollar bill turned out to be a mistake on part of the electricity supply company. The company representatives checked her meter and admitted their mistake of missing a decimal point in the figure. The bill was supposed to cost $284.46.
