LSG pacer Avesh Khan dedicates match-winning performance to hospitalised mother after win over SRH

Indian pacer Avesh Khan was one of the standout performers with the ball for Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) as he helped his side beat Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by 12 runs in a thrilling encounter in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 on Monday (April 04). Avesh picked up a four-wicket haul to run through the SRH batting line-up and help LSG defend a par total of 169 runs at the DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai.
Batting first, Lucknow Super Giants rode on half-centuries from skipper KL Rahul (68) and Deepak Hooda (51) to post a strong total on the board despite getting off to a poor start. The bowlers then came up with a brilliant performance to keep SRH batters at bay and secure the team's second win of the season.
Avesh drew the first blood for LSG during SRH's run-chase as he got rid of Kane Williamson on 16 of 16 balls before dismissing his opening partner Abhishek Sharma cheaply on 13 off 11 balls. After striking twice in the Powerplay, Avesh removed Nicholas Pooran and Abdul Samad on successive deliveries in the 18th over to complete his 4-wicket haul.

After his match-winning performance for Lucknow Super Giants, Avesh dedicated it to his mother, who is currently hospitalised. The fast bowler revealed he had called his mother immediately after the matches got over and informed that she is doing fine.
"I would like to dedicate this performance to my mother who is hospitalised. I received a lot of support from her. After the match, I picked up my phone and connected with her on a video call and gave her the details of the match. By God's grace, she is fine now," Avesh said in a conversation with his teammate Deepak Hooda post the game.

While Avesh was the star with the ball for Lucknow, Hooda continued her fine form with the willow. The right-hander came out to bat at number number 5 when LSG were reeling at 27/3 inside five overs. He combined with skipper Rahul to added a 87-run stand for the 4th wicket to help his team stage a comeback.

Hooda played a brilliant knock of 51 runs off 33 balls laced with three sixes and as many fours as Lucknow went on to post 169 runs on the board in 20 overs. LSG have now won their last two games in a row and will be looking to continue their impressive run when they take on Delhi Capitals in their next game on Thursday.
