Supreme Court asks for English translations of documents, postpones Ayodhya dispute hearing to March 14

The Supreme Court postponed Thursday the hearing in the Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid dispute to March 14.
The court, which was expected to start "final hearings" in the matter today, asked for English translations of all documents placed before it. The parties involved have been given two weeks to furnish the documents.
The matter is being heard by a special bench headed by Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra.
The court clarified Thursday that it had never intended to hear the matter on a "day to day" basis.
The bench, also comprising Justices Ashok Bhushan and S A Nazeer, said it would deal with the instant matter as a "pure land dispute" and indicated that impleadment applications of those which were not before the High Court would be dealt with later.

The special bench of the apex court is seized of a total 14 appeals filed against the high court judgement delivered in four civil suits.
