PM Modi takes charge, reviews J&K situation after four terror attacks in four days

Amid a series of terror attacks in India's Jammu region, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday (Jun 13) chaired a high-level meeting with National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval and other officials. The PM directedto deploy the full spectrum of the country's counter-terror capabilities to neutralise terror threats and bring back peace to the Indian Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
In the meeting, the PM was briefed about current security challenges and the ongoing counter-terror operations.
PM Modi earlier also held talks with union Home Minister Amit Shah and Jammu-Kashmir Lt Governor Manoj Sinha over the deployment of additional security personnel in the region.
Series of terror attacks in Jammu
Terrorists have targeted four places in the UT's Jammu area over the last four days, resulting in the death of at least 10 people, including one soldier.
The attacks have been witnessed in Reasi, Kathua and Doda districts.

In retaliation, the Indian security forces have launched massive search operations in several forest belts of the UT.
Earlier, police in Jammu and Kashmir issued sketches of four terrorists suspected of involvement in two attacks in Doda district.
"Jammu and Kashmir Police has released sketches of four terrorists who are believed to be in the upper reaches of Bhaderwah, Thathri, Gandoh and carrying out terror-related activities," a police spokesperson said.
Jammu and Kashmir on high alert
Several districts have been put on high alert following intelligence input that terrorists may stage further attacks on security forces in the UT.
Sunderbani, Nowshera, Domana, Lamberi and Akhnoor areas of Rajouri and Jammu districts are on high alert.
According to central intelligence agencies, a new terror network of on-ground workers (OGW), locals and local terrorists is suspected to be helping foreign terrorists involved in the attacks in the region.
Restoring peace is important in the valley, especially because the Amarnath Yatra is slated to begin at the end of this month till August 19, followed by the assembly elections in September.
