The Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Mehbooba Mufti has acceptedthe resignation of BJP state ministers Chander Prakash Ganga and LalSingh.

The two ministersLal Singh and Chander Prakash Ganga resigned from the party on Friday over massive outrage that emerged following their participation in a rally that was organised in support of the accused in Kathua gang rape and murder.

The resignations were submitted by BJP general secretary Ram Madhav on Saturday.

Ram Madhav also admitted that the two ministers showed a lack of discretion by participating in the rally.However, he added that the accusationput up by the opposition that the two ministers were pro rapist is "absolutely wrong".

According to senior BJP leader Ram Madhav, the resignation of the ministers was to address the fears of not only its ally PDP and the people of Jammu and Kashmir but also the entire nation.

Mehbooba Mufti has forwarded the resignation of the two ministers to the state Governor.
