The Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Mehbooba Mufti has accepted&nbsp;the resignation of BJP state ministers Chander Prakash Ganga and Lal&nbsp;Singh.&nbsp;

The two ministers&nbsp;Lal Singh and Chander Prakash Ganga resigned from the party on Friday over massive outrage that emerged following their participation in a rally that was organised in support of the accused in Kathua gang rape and murder.

The resignations were submitted by BJP general secretary Ram Madhav on Saturday.&nbsp;

Ram Madhav also admitted that the two ministers showed a lack of discretion by participating in the rally.&nbsp;However, he added that the accusation&nbsp;put up by the opposition that the two ministers were pro rapist is "absolutely wrong".

According to senior BJP leader Ram Madhav, the resignation of the ministers was to address the fears of not only its ally PDP and the people of Jammu and Kashmir but also the entire nation.

Mehbooba Mufti has forwarded the resignation of the two ministers to the state Governor.

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti on Saturday lauded the people of Jammu for standing up to their secular credentials and dismissing the divisive communal forces.

She said: "I commend the manner in which the people... were unwavering in their support for a little girl.&nbsp

Mehbooba Mufti will also request state High Court Chief Justice Justice Ramalingam Sudhakar for the establishment of special fast-track court for Kathua Rape case.

This special fast-track court which would be the first in the state is expected to complete the trial in ninety days.

The nation has been on the boil over Kathua gang rape where an eight-year-old girl was allegedly abducted, drugged, raped, tortured and killed in January.

Earlier, Mufti had expressed her anger over the incident while saying that the state government will bring a new law to make the death penalty mandatory for those who rape minors.

She also called for exemplary punishment for those responsible for the crime.
