Cold wave and fog continue to grip North India

Cold weather continued to grip parts of north India on Sunday and a blanket of fog enveloped several areas of the region affecting road and rail traffic.
In Delhi, the mercury once again dipped to 3.7 degrees Celsius in early morning.
According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), Delhi`s Air Quality Index at 8 a.m. was 441 with major pollutants being PM2.5 and PM10.
This is the third time in four days that the mercury has plunged to 4 degrees Celsius — the lowest temperature in the last four years.
The fall in temperature is due to cold wave conditions prevailing over northwest India.

Night temperatures remained below normal in Varanasi, Faizabad, Allahabad, Lucknow, Bareilly, Meerut, Gorakhpur and Agra divisions. Muzaffarnagar was the coldest in the state with 0.4 degrees Celsius.
