Indian actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan will soon be seen in a different avatar as she preps to play a popular pop singer that connects with the youth of the world in her upcoming film Fanney Khan.
We had informed you earlier that the beauty queen will pay homage to our very own iconic singer Lata Mangeshkar in the film, however, new developments imply that the actress will be seen in a contemporary singer’s role -- one that can even be equalled to international icon, Madonna. See her first look here.
In a special song for the film, Aishwarya will sing and dance like Madonna, as reported by a Mumbai-based daily. Her role will be very glamorous and one that Aishwarya has never done before. The said song will be reportedly shot this week.
On the glamorous song, director Atul Manjrekar told a leading daily, "Aishwarya plays a huge pop icon who’s extremely popular with the youngsters. Her character is a fabulous dancer and singer who performs on the global stage. While fleshing out her character, we began referencing a bunch of choreographers who do international live shows. Frank is among the best in the world and we decided to approach him."
As the track will be very much away from any item song that has ever been recorded in Bollywood's history, choreographer Frank Gatson Jr, who has previously worked with Beyoncé and Rihanna has been roped in. Talking about getting Frank on board, Atul said, "Frank was excited at the opportunity to work with Aishwarya whom he knows of and immediately came on board."
On the film, he said, "We have kept the tone of the film real and this song too is being choreographed tastefully. I’ve been extremely lucky with my cast as none of the actors turned me down."
Fanney Khan is directed by debutant Atul Manjrekar and co-produced by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra. It is based on the Belgian movie Everybody's Famous! that released in the year 2000. It also stars Anil Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao.
Fanney Khan will release on August 3, 2018. It had earlier come in news for clashing with Salman Khan's Eid release Race 3, however, the makers avoided the clash and postponed the release of the film.
