RJD candidate Shahnawaz Alam defeated JD(U) candidate Murshid Alam by a huge margin of over 41,225 votes to bag the Jokihat assembly seat in bypoll. The results were declared on Thursday.
Shahnawaz Alam is the son of former RJD heavyweight Mohammad Taslimuddin and brother of Sarfaraj Alam.
It's the third victory for RJD under the leadership of Tejaswi Yadav, who took over the party after his father Lalu Yadav was convicted in fodder scam.

The party had earlier won Jehanabad and Aaria.
He also praised his father by saying that he showed the path to fragmented opposition to unite in their common role to dislodge ''fascist forces''.
