
Telugu Desam Party (TDP) chief N Chandrababu Naidu is set to take oath as the new Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh on June 9, as per local media reports after a landslide victory for his party in the assembly elections that were held along with the Lok Sabha elections in the south Indian state, results showed on Tuesday (June 4).
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend the ceremony.
Naidu will resume power for the fourth time. He served as chief minister of undivided Andhra Pradesh from 1995 to 2004.
Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and its allies Jana Sena Party (JSP) and the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)ousted the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP), the incumbent regional party in the state elections.
According to the latest data from the Election Commission of India (ECI), the TDP-led alliance won 164out of the total 175 assembly seats in the state.
Meanwhile, TDP allies JSP and BJP managed to secure 21and eightseats, respectively. On the other hand, YSRCP bagged11assembly seats.

YSRCP chief and CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy won in the Pulivendula assembly against TDP rival B Ravi.
Meanwhile, TDP supremo N Chandrababu Naidu and his son Lokesh wonleading in the Kuppam and Mangalagiri assembly seats, respectively.
The ruling YSRCP was contesting in all 175 assembly seats, while the TDP was fighting on 144 as part of a seat-sharing deal with the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA).

As part of the agreement, BJP was contesting from 10 assembly seats while JSP pitched candidates from 21 assembly seats.
Key contenders in the assembly polls included Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and YSRCP’s Reddy from Pulivendula assembly seat, JSP chief and actor Pawan Kalyan from Pithapuram, TDP supremo and former CM N Chandrababu Naidu from Kuppam.
