The early trends in the Lok Sabha elections results came as a shocker to the people of India as it showed a completely different picture from the one projected by the early trends.

In the wake of the consecration of Ayodhya Ram Temple, a massive support was expected from the people of the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh to the ruling National Democratic Alliance.

However, after more than five hours of counting votes, the NDA and INDIA bloc appeared in a neck-and-neck battle in Uttar Pradesh, as the Samajwadi Party and Congress shone in the early trends.

The trends were not limited to the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh but reflected in the entire country as the INDIA bloc gave a tough and unprecedented fight to the Narendra Modi-led NDA bloc.

In the early trends, the National Democratic Alliance or NDA led by Modi's Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) isleading the INDIA bloc on 238 seats as early trends on all543 seats show INDIA givinga tough fight to the ruling alliance.

The early trends clearly contradicted the exit polls which painted a picture of Modi-led NDA clearly sweeping the elections with '400+' massive victory.

Samajwadi Party dominates Uttar Pradesh, Akhilesh garner love and votes

In Uttar Pradesh, the NDA was leading on 38 seats (the BJP in 36 and the RLD in two) and the INDIA bloc led on 42 seats (SP in 34 and Congress in eight), as per the latest Election Commission figures.

The Congress is contesting on 17 seats and the Akhilesh Yadav-led Samajwadi Party is fighting on 62 seats.

The BJP has been fighting elections in state along with its old ally Apna Dal (Sonelal) and OP Rajbhar's Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party and Jayant Chaudhary's RLD have also joined the NDA fold.

In Uttar Pradesh, Amethi and Rae Bareli have remained as family strongholds for the Congress. In the last elections, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi faced a shameful defeat at the hands of BJP's Smriti Irani in Amethi.

This time, Irani is trailing to Congress's Kishori Lal Sharma by nearly 50,000 votes till 12:30 pm.

In the exit polls, NDA was given an edge in Uttar Pradesh, however, the projection has been dismissed by the INDIA bloc leaders.

Meanwhile, Samajwadi Party's Akhilesh Yadav is leading from the seat with a margin of 64,511 votes at the Kannauj Lok Sabha seat.

However, BJP's star candidate and Prime Minister Narendra Modi is leading from the Varanasi Lok Sabha seat with a margin of 79,566 votes.

Congress MP Rahul Gandhi is also leading from their bastion Rae Bareli. Amid such trends, violent scuffle broke out between party workers of BJP and Samajwadi Party.
