Lok Sabha Election 2024 Results: India is counting votes of the mammoth 2024 general elections on Tuesday (June 4), with the final results set to reveal if Prime Minister Narendra Modi is clinching a historic third term or the opposition INDIA bloc is seeing a future different from one predicted by the exit polls.
In the early trends, the National Democratic alliance or NDA led by Modi's Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) isleading the INDIA bloc on 238 seats as early trends on all543 seats show INDIA givinga tough fight to the ruling alliance.
The early trends have clearly contradicted the exit polls which painted a picture of Modi-led NDA clearly sweeping the elections with '400+' massive victory. With these kind of numbers, the ambitious target of NDA appears far from becoming a reality anytime sooner.
These early and shocking trends have led to volatile opening of India's stock market as the stock prices crashed and market continues to bubble in the heat of politics.
BJP to achieve the ambitious goal of '400-paar'?
Intense political campaignsdominated the seven-phase elections and the mood of the voters has been difficult to predict. As per three exit polls, a 400-plus - or 400 paar in Hindi - score has been predicted for the BJP-led NDA.

The BJP had launched a star-studded campaign with Modi at the helm, which focused on development, the economy and offered people a roadmap to 100 years of democracy.
The abrogation of Article 370 for Kashmir and the consecration of the Ayodhya Ram temple have also strengthened the support of NDA at the grassroots level.
The voting was held for 543 Lok Sabha seats in seven phases.
A political party or a coalition needs 272 votes to mark a majority.
BJP workers prepare for 'historic victory'
The mood of BJP workers is upbeat as the INDIA camp continues to dwell in cautious optimism.
Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge had earlier urged the bureaucracy to 'adhere to the constitution'.
Some volatility is expected in the stock market as the trends emerge for polls.

In the BJP headquarters, preparations for celebrations are underway.
Priests are performing havan (fire ritual) in the temple city of Ayodhya.
Ladoos are being prepared by sweet shops in the Indian cities of Agra and Mumbai.
According to some exit polls, the Modi-led BJP is also on the verge of breaking the South ceiling and clinching a win on some seats in Tamil Nadu and Kerala.
Meanwhile, the counting of votes for assembly elections is also taking place in Odisha and Andhra Pradesh.
