The India vs Pakistan T20 World Cup match was yet another occasion where the Men in Green suffered their latest setback which could now see them on the brink of elimination. While the contest was taking place in the United States, far from the original geographical rise of the rivalry, an unfortunate incident took place in Pakistan’s Karachi. A YouTuber lost his lifeafter he was shot while filming a preview for the India-Pakistan T20 World Cup match.

What was the incident?

Saad Ahmed, a 24-year-old YouTuber, was shot dead by a security guard in the Serena mobile market in Karachi on June 4. According to eyewitnesses, the YouTuber was in conversation with the shopkeepers and the local public when the incident took place. During this conversation, Ahmed approached Gul Hassan, a security person in the famous Karachi market. During their chat, the flow of the conversation escalated to such an extent that Gul shot Ahmed with his service pistol.

He was quickly rushed to a hospital by the people around him but he succumbed to his injuries. CCTV footage indicated that Ahmed was shot in the shoulder and was bleeding profusely.

Police officers quickly arrived at the scene and, with the assistance of rescue teams, took Ahmed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where he was pronounced ‘dead on arrival’.

A First Information Report (FIR) has been lodged at the Taimuria Police Station after a complaint was filed by the victim’s father, Mukhtiar Ahmed. The FIR names the security guard, the security agency and the mobile market authority that havebeen accused of negligence despite prior permission for the video shoot.

The local police are understood to have taken appropriate action once the complaint was filed. The security person was detained and his weapon was confiscated with an inquiry underway. It is being reported that certain gestures by Ahmed provoked Gul who thenshot the YouTuber.
