Ravichandran Ashwin, who played a pivotal role in helping RR reach the nextstagehighlighted the importance of bowlers and why they need to be dynamic. He also emphasised that the Impact Player rulewon’thave stopped teams from scoring big totals in the IPL 2024.

Ashwin has his say on the player and bowler role

"Even if the impact player rulewasn'tthere, scores would be this high,"Ashwin said on JioCinema Match Centre Live after their four-wicket win over Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the IPLEliminator,on Wednesday.

“In the future, all bowlers will need to be hitters because we know that no matter how well we bowl, wealso need tobe able to bat. The gameis headedin that direction,"he said.

The Indian spinner was awarded the Player of the Match for the Eliminator clash against RCB as he helped his side take a giant step toward the final.A win for RR against SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH)on Fridaywill seeAshwin’sside reach their third final in IPL.Ashwin had an excellent return of 19/2 in his four overs and has often added valuable runs with the bat whenever his side has needed him.

According to him, bowlers need to be more dynamic andhave tooffer their services to the side with both bat and ball. The Impact Player has granted IPL sides allowance to push an extra batter or a bowler in the side, highlighting the importance of all-rounders. According to stats, all-rounders are less substituted for an Impact Player. Ashwin alsoreckons,thathad the Impact Player rule notexistedteams would have still been able to score more runs and often reach 200.
