Explained: What Babar's men need to do to secure Super 8 berth if IND vs PAK T20 World Cup match is washed out
Rain has played spoilsport in New York during the India vs Pakistan T20 World Cup group stage contest on Sunda (June 9) as there isdelay in the start of the gam. The match which holds bearings for the Men in Green is now a must-win having lost to USA in the Super Over on Thursday. So what will happen if the match is washed out with rain predicted to be a decisive factor during the T20 World Cup contest?
India vs Pakistan affected by rain
At the time of writing the play had resumed at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium, however, rain was predicted to interrupt the game at any stage. In a scenario the match getswashed out, it will be the USA fans that will benefit the most. As a result, both India and Pakistan will get one point each leading to thelatter’s case being vulnerable in Super Eight qualification.
This means Pakistan will reach only five points even if they win their remaining two matches against Ireland and Canada. For them to secure qualification, the trio of Canada, Ireland and the USA should secure four or fewer points. This means the USA should lose to Ireland and India while Ireland and Canada should also lose to India and Pakistan. The Men in Greenshould also hope that Ireland beat the USA as part of the equation mentioned above.

If the above scenarios are met, Pakistan will finish on five points in five matches and will be second in Group A. India will finish top while Canada, USA and Ireland will get eliminatedwith four or less points on the points tally.
How could Pakistan get eliminated?
In case India vs Pakistan match is washed out and the USA beat either India or Ireland, then Pakistan will face group stage elimination of the T20 World Cup. In this case, Pakistan will stay on five points while India (assuming will win its remaining matches against Canada and USA) and the USA will have six or more points. This will result in Pakistan finishing third or below in the group stage and will get eliminated.
