UK: Man jailed for 13 years for raping a woman on knifepoint

Sevdalin Atanasov, a Turkish national, has been sentenced to 13 years of prison for raping awoman at knifepoint in her bedroom in north London.
The man was known to a flatmate of the victim,and had agreed to let him spend the night at the property.
The victim, however, woke up in the middle of the nightto find the man in her bedroom with his hand over her mouth.He was holding a knife to her throat and threatened to kill her throughout the attack.
The victim managed to flee to her friend's house nearby, where the friend called the police.
Atanasov had denied the offence, but later plead guiltyafter forensic evidence of the assault was presented in the court.
