Banging noises from cargo hold scare passengers. Someone had gotten locked in
American Airlines
An American Airlines flight travelling from Buenos Aires to New York made an emergency landing after passengers reported hearing strange noises. The Boeing 777-300ER took off from the Ministro Pistarini International Airport. Around 400 miles northwest of Buenos Aires, passengers and crew started hearing noises aboard the aircraft.
The pilots and the crew activated security protocols and started working to find the source of the noise.
Reportedly, a passenger got locked in the cargo hold of the plane and was banging to get attention. The crew told the passengers of the American Airlines flight 954 that the person was using a blunt object to bang on the aircraft.
A Turkish civil aviation platform reported on its X handle about the strange incident. HavaSosyalMedya wrote, "American Airlines #AA954 Boeing 777-323 (ER) type aircraft with registration N717AN, operating the Buenos Aires - New York flight, made an emergency landing in Buenos Aires."
It added that the flight "decided to divert to Ministro Pistarini International Airport, with security protocols activated" after people on board the plane started hearing loud noises.
"After the plane landed safely, it was announced that there was a person locked in the cargo hold."

It might sound odd to hear that someone got locked in the cargo area. However, it has happened on a few occasions. In 2018, a drunk American Airlines baggage handler fell asleep in the cargo hold of a Boeing 737 flight travelling from Kansas City to Chicago.
In 2017, a United Express baggage handler travelled in the cargo area from Charlotte to Washington Dulles.
Sleeping berths in cargo area
Putting sleeping berths in the cargo area of an airplane has been a plan for a few years now. Airbus had earlier announced that it is developing sleeping berths for passengers in the cargo holds of its aircraft. The modules were designed to fit inside the cargo hold.
