US cancer centre backs out of event after Ramdev is named chief guest

A US-basedMD Andersoncancer centre has pulled out its name out of an event to be held in IIT Madras after Baba Ramdev was named as the chief guest in the event.

The event is scheduled to be held in Chennai on February 4 and is based on Cancer prevention and treatment.

The theme of the event is "Cancer prevention and treatment: from Ancient Medicine to Modern Medicine".

MD Anderson cancer centre which is based at the University of Texastook to Twitter to disclose its back out from the event.

It tweeted "In the past, MD Anderson has sponsored this conference through its Global Academic Program. But this year, we’re not a sponsor. Our name and logo are being used without permission, and we’ve requested they be removed from promotional materials.”

In the past, the Yog Guru had made several controversial and unscientific statements.

He said that Yoga and medicines from his Patanjali had the power to cure Cancer and AIDS.

Despite the fact that till date, no comprehensive cure has been found for the two deadly diseases.

He also supported Himant Biswa's commenton cancer patients wherein the Assam Health Minister had called cancer sufferings as sins of their past.
