The petition filed by advocate Yatin Sharma stated that the toothpaste packaging featured&nbsp;a green dot - typically associated with vegetarian products&nbsp;but the ingredient list included&nbsp;Sepia officinalis (common cuttlefish).&nbsp;

The toothpaste is manufactured by Divya Pharmacy, a subsidiary of Patanjali and is prominently marketed and sold in both offline and online stores.&nbsp;

The petitioner also claimed that Ramdev in one of his YouTube videos stated that&nbsp;"Samudra fen," used in the product, is animal-based, despite the product being marketed as vegetarian.&nbsp;

The petitioner claimed that the unintentional consumption of a non-vegetarian product had caused him distress and demanded redressal of the issue while highlighting the importance of transparency and adherence to religious beliefs.

"The gravity and effectiveness of the court's order are seriously questioned in this matter, highlighting the need for urgent judicial intervention. The persistent disregard for the court's directives calls for decisive action to ensure compliance and uphold the integrity of the legal system," the plea stated.&nbsp;

Apart from Patanjali and Baba Ramdev, the notice has also been issued to the Centre,&nbsp;the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India as well as other related parties. The matter is slated to be heard again in November.&nbsp;

The television, radio, and internet associations subsequently filed motions to intervene in the proceedings, claiming that the top court's orders would have an impact on the advertising industry. The Supreme Court ordered the Centre on Tuesday to meet with stakeholders and top I&B Ministry officials to discuss objections raised by the advertising industry. It also suggested that the Ministry of Consumer Affairs should be included as a party in the case. The focus of this court has already been highlighted in previous orders and needs no repetition. The court noted that the petition's scope has broadened beyond misleading advertisements due to the involvement of multiple parties. "We unconditionally extend the apology for holding meeting/press conference dated 22.11.2023. We earnestly apologise for the mistake made in publishing our advertisements, and it is our whole- hearted commitment that such errors will not be repeated."

<h2>Supreme Court's rebuke</h2>

This comes after, on Tuesday (Apr 22), the top court questioned the size and visibility of Patanjali's apology concerning its misleading advertisements.

The apex court reprimanding Ramdev's Patanjali had asked, "Is the apology the same size as your advertisements?"

Contending the rebuke, appearing for the company, Senior Advocate Mukul Rohatgi had told the court that the apologies in 67 newspapers cost Patanjali 'tens of lakhs'.

"Cut the actual newspaper clippings and keep them handy. For you to photocopy by enlarging, it may not impress us. We want to see the actual size of the ad. When you issue an apology, it does not mean that we have to see it by a microscope," added the Supreme Court Justice.

The court was hearing a petition filed by the Indian Medical Association (IMA) against misleading claims in advertisements with the bench of Justices Ahsanuddin Amanullah and Prashant Kumar Mishra presiding over it. “All such false and misleading advertisements of Patanjali Ayurved have to stop immediately. The Court will take any such infraction very seriously, and the Court will also consider imposing costs to the extent of Rs. 1 crores on every product regarding which a false claim is made that it can 'cure' a particular disease,” Justice Amanullah orally said. The court said it did not want to deviate and make the case an "Allopathy vs Ayurveda" debate but wanted to get to the root of misleading medical advertisements. The bench has asked the Government of India (GOI) to come up with suitable recommendations after consultations. Apart from the misleading claims, IMA, in the writ petition accused Patanjali of spreading false rumours about COVID-19 and fuelling vaccine hesitancy. Baba Ramdev's comments making a mockery of citizens searching for oxygen cylinders during the second peak were also cited in the complaint. However, after receiving a tap from the SC judges, Patanjali issued an undertaking, saying the company would not publish any such advertisements in the future, and would also ensure that casual statements are not made by it in the media. Maharashtra: Baba Ramdev, CM Fadnavis perform yoga on 5th International Yoga Day

The Delhi High Court has directed Facebook to ensure that links of a video containing allegations against yoga guru Ramdev are removed from its platform.

The court said Google and YouTube have rightly removed the video from their platforms.

After viewing the video, the court noted that it showed a protagonist casting various aspersions, making wild allegations and levelling threats against Ramdev and Patanjali.

"The video clearly is violative of the guidelines which Google and YouTube have prescribed for themselves. The video is also not just offensive against the plaintiffs (Patanjali Ayurved Ltd and Ramdev) but could border on threats constituting violations of law," Justice Prathiba M Singh said.

"Facebook Inc. Is also directed to ensure that the links to the said video links are no longer made available on its platform," the court said.

It said if any further instances of uploading of same video comes to the knowledge of the plaintiffs, they are permitted to intimate the platforms which shall take down the video within 48 hours.&nbsp;

"In view of the stand taken by Google and YouTube, since the video itself has now stated to have been taken down not just on the India domain but from all the international platforms of Google and YouTube no further orders are required to be passed in the present suit," the court said and disposed of the suit.

The court was hearing a suit by Ramdev alleging that they came across a video uploaded by some unknown person who made several defamatory, disparaging and threatening statements against him and Patanjali.

Earlier on January 24, the Delhi High Court had issued an interim order directing Facebook, Google, its subsidiary YouTube and Twitter to forthwith remove, block or disable links to a video containing allegations against yoga guru Ramdev.

It also asked the social media platforms to give in a sealed cover the subscriber information regarding the individual who uploaded the video.

After perusing the video, Justice Pratibha M Singh had noted that it contained excerpts of a book on Ramdev that were ordered to be deleted by the high court in September last year.

The high court had on September 29, 2018 restrained the publisher and author of the book -- Godman from Tycoon -- from publishing it till the offending portions were deleted, the judge noted.

The court said that the un-deleted portions of the book were being communicated to the public through the video which was uploaded on Facebook, Google, YouTube and Twitter.

Regarding the question whether such platforms can be directed to remove, block or disable content on the international domain and not merely on the Indian domain, the court said it is left open to be adjudicated in an appropriate case.

However, in January Justice Singh had observed that orders of a US court to remove such links would have been implemented by Facebook globally and not just in the US.

The court said the basic subscriber information of the person or entity who has uploaded the video shall be filed in a sealed cover before it.

"Upon receiving the basic subscriber information of the persons/entities that had uploaded the impugned video, the plaintiffs are permitted to avail their remedies in law," it said.&nbsp;

ANI quoted him as telling reporters that people with more than two children should not be allowed to contest elections, their children should be denied admission to government schools, they should not be allowed treatment at government hospitals, and they should be disallowed from taking government jobs.&nbsp;

This is not the first time Ramdev has voiced the sentiment. In November last year, Ramdev said people like him who never get married should be given "special honours".&nbsp;

"In this country, people like me, who never get married, should receive a special honour. Those who get married and produce more than two children should be denied voting rights," Ramdev had said.&nbsp;

The Yogi Adityanatha government has moved quickly to contain the fallout after Patanjali Ayurveda co-founder Acharya Balkrishna said they were moving their Rs 6,000-crore food-processing plant out of Uttar Pradesh.&nbsp;

Balkrishna&nbsp;made his announcement Tuesday, saying they had received "no cooperation" from the government.&nbsp;

The planned food park was supposed to come up near the Yamuna Expressway in Greater Noida, where Patanjali already has 450 acres.&nbsp;

It was the former Akhilesh Yadav government that had allotted the 450 acres to Patanjali Ayurveda for a food and herbal park.&nbsp;

Patanjali had wanted 50 of those acres transferred to its subsidiary, Patanjali Food Products, for the setting up of the food-processing plant or mega food park. (The central government gives a Rs 150 crore subsidy for the setting up of a mega food park.)&nbsp;

But the transfer needed approval from the Centre, which was not coming because Patanjali had not completed its paperwork.&nbsp;

Patanjali in turn said they had not been able to complete the paperwork because they had got "no cooperation" from the state government.&nbsp;

Patanjali had said their plant would create 10,000 jobs, and would also buy agricultural produce from nearby famers.&nbsp;

News reports said Wednesday that Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister picked up the phone and spoke with Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev — he is the other founder of Patanjali Ayurved — promising to move things along.&nbsp;

And that the food park would stay in Uttar Pradesh.&nbsp;

Yogi calls up Baba; food park to stay in Uttar Pradesh

Baba Ramdev led Patanjali Ayurved is clocking an online sales of up to Rs 15 crore every month and expect it to grow further every month, said a top official.

The Haridwar-based company has done well in the last financial year and expects to perform better in the current fiscal.

"We are doing online business of Rs 10 to 15 crore, and expect it to increase further every month," Patanjali CEO Acharya Balakrishna told.

He further added, "We are doing good in the online sales despite the fact that we are not participating in any discounted sales".

According to Balakrishna, who was speaking at an AIMA event, said the company would continue to invest in the food processing and connect with more farmers.

"This would also create more employment opportunities," he added.

For current fiscal, Balakrishna said: "We have done better than the last year (FY 2018) and expect even more this fiscal. We have tried to improve our internal system last fiscal". 
However, he did not share the numbers.

In January this year, Patanjali Ayurved has forayed into e-commerce for its FMCG items, partnering major players in the space, including Amazon and Flipkart.

It has partnered eight players, including Grofers, Shopclues, BigBasket, 1mg, PaytmMall and Netmeds, through which its entire range of products was made available online.&nbsp

Acharya Balkrishna, managing director of Patanjali Ayurved said that this idea will benefit every household in India as it aims to provide power supply through solar energy, which is still in its nascent stage in India.&nbsp;

It plans to manufacture solar panels in India at a considerable price so as to avoid a price war with the Chinese solar panels, media reports said.&nbsp;

The government has conveyed its full support to the firm and has decided to provide&nbsp;175 GW of renewable energy by 2022, and is also looking for ways to add capacity through floating solar, solar manufacturing and offshore wind projects. India currently had a mere amount of 60 GW of renewable energy.&nbsp;

As per the report, Patanjali had acquired Advanced Navigation and Solar Technologies Private Limited, a manufacturer of navigation aid equipment, earlier this year. As of now, the facility has a manufacturing capacity of 120 megawatts.&nbsp;

With the average capacity of a solar panel currently at just 16-22%, sub-standard quality will bring about a change in generation.

Patanjali Ayurved ventures into infrastructure sector

The Allahabad High Court today asked the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) if any land was allotted to yoga guru Ramdev&#39;s firm Patanjali Ayurved Ltd, directly or indirectly for setting up a food park.

The High Court has sought details if it was done.

The bench comprising justices Tarun Agarwala and Ajay Bhanot also issued a notice to Patanjali Ayurved Ltd on a petition by a man named Ausaf and others of Gautam Budh Nagar.

The petitioners had challenged the alleged allotment of 400 acres of land in favour of Patanjali Ayurved Ltd. Noida.

The court asked YEIDA to provide all the records showing details of allotment of land in favour of Patanjali Ayurved Ltd and such other company or firm or industry that directly or indirectly relates to Patanjali Ayurved Ltd along with maps.

The court has fixed November 14 for the next hearing in the case.

The petitioners alleged that they were allotted land on lease for plantation of trees in 1994 for 30 years but now that land was allotted illegally by YEIDA to Patanjali Ayurved Ltd.

During the course of the hearing , the Yamuna Expressway authority said neither its officers went to cut down tree nor any tree existed on the spot.

However, the state government in its affidavit stated that the authority&#39;s officers went to the disputed land to cut the trees and at least 300 trees are there.

&quot;It seems that cover-up operations are going on. Neither the government nor the authority is ready to answer whose JCB machines were used to pull down trees,&quot; the court had observed on an earlier date.

Earlier, the court had directed the parties concerned not to make any development or changes in the land in dispute till the next order.&nbsp;

Uttar Pradesh Governor Ram Naik, CM Adityanath perform yogic 'asana' with Ramdev

Yoga guru Ramdev today stepped forward in defence of West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee. He said Banerjee is not against the move to demonetise Rupees&nbsp;500 and Rupees 1,000 notes, but is protesting against the way it is being implemented.

&quot;I praise Mamata Banerjee because she is very simple and stays in a cottage and wears hawai (rubber) chappals. I think she is not opposed to the demonetisation move as such. But I feel she is not happy about the way it is implemented,&quot; Ramdev said at the Infocom seminar in Kolkata.

Banerjee has been the most vocal critic of the demonetisation move among opposition leaders and held protest meetings in Delhi, Patna and Lucknow.

The Yoga guru-cum-entrepreneur said, &quot;I had planted the seeds of demonetisation. I continued the movement from 2009 to 2014 and asked the government to withdraw Rupees 500 and Rupees 1,000 notes as it was the root cause of corruption, black money, terror and militant funding&quot;.

He claimed that the black money generation, corruption and terror funding has stopped totally after demonetisation.

&quot;The common people are getting inconvenienced due to cash crisis. But none is complaining against this,&quot; he said.

Praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the move, Ramdev said former PM Manmohan Singh, who had never spoken a word on any issue, had actually spoken now on the issue.

&quot;This is the effect of demonetisation you see,&quot; he remarked.

India: Bengal minister Mamata not against note ban, but its way of implementation, says Yoga guru Ramdev

Within two weeks of Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonwal laying the foundation of a Patanjali herbal and mega food park in the Sonitpur district of India&#39;s northeastern state, one elephant has died in the animal corridor while two others are injured.

The Rs 1000-crore project by Baba Ramdev, located in the Ghoaramari area of Assam, is supposed to generate employment opportunities in the region, the yoga guru had claimed.

The three elephants fell into a deep pit at the construction site&nbsp;on November 23, killing one, leaving behind its three-month-old calf grieving near her body.

According to environment activists, using this corridor, which is surrounded by the Kaziranga National Park,&nbsp;for industrial purposes is likely to be detrimental for the wild animals.

The Satra Mukti Sangram Samiti (SMSS), a sister organisation of the Krishak Mukti Sangram Samity (KMSS), has recently been leading massive protests across the state against the allotment of land to Patanjali and construction of the multi-crore project.

Herds of elephants are known to frequent the site regularly, especially during the&nbsp;winter, when they move from Arunachal side to the Brahmaputra river.

Patanjali was reportedly asked to put an electric fencing along their construction site so as to keep the animals away, forest department officials said.

Assam forest minister Pramila Rani Brahma&nbsp;of the Bodoland People&rsquo;s Front &ndash; an ally of the ruling BJP government in Assam - has promised of stringent actions against people responsible for this negligence.

Authorities will file a report against Patanjali, she said.

Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonwal, while speaking to mediapersons,&nbsp;said that his government was in complete agreement with every initiative of the Assam forest minister.

The National Green Tribunal (NGT) in August this year had ordered the Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NFL), a public sector company to demolish a 2.2 kilometre wall that blocked an elephant corridor near the Kaziranga National Park.

Also, the militant outfit ULFA (Independent) has opposed the state government move of granting 150 acres of land to Patanjali Ayurveda while the victims of flood and erosion are yet to be rehabilitated.
