President Ram Nath Kovind extends warm wishes for Lohri

President Ram Nath Kovind on Saturday extended his warm wishes to the nation on the occasion of Lohri, celebrated today. 

"Greetings and good wishes to the people of the country on Lohri. May the festival bring happiness, good health and prosperity to everyone's lives #PresidentKovind," Kovind wrote on Twitter.


Other ministers and governors also greeted the nation for the Punjab folk festival. 

Finance minister Arun Jaitley wrote: "My best wishes to everyone on the occasion of #Lohri. May the #Lohri festivities bring joy and prosperity in your homes and lives. A very happy and blessed #Lohri to all."


Governor N. N. Vohra, Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti, Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh also extended their wishes. 


Lohri, primarily celebrated in the Punjab region by Sikhs and Hindus, marks the end of the winter season.

Bonfire and folk songs are a major part of the celebration, and a Puja Parikrama around the bonfire is performed followed by the distribution of Prasad.
