
India on Sunday confirmed 2,644 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of cases to 39,280.
The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare also said that 83 deaths are recorded in the last 24 hours.
With the latest figures updated by the Centre, the total number of coronavirus cases in the country stand at 39,280, including 1301 deaths.
At least 10,633 people have either been cured or discharged or migrated.
Of the total deaths, Maharashtra witnessed the maximum with 521 fatalities, followed by Gujarat (262), Madhya Pradesh (151), Rajasthan (65), Delhi (64), and Uttar Pradesh (43).
West Bengal and Andhra Pradesh have recorded 33 fatalities each.
Maharashtra is far ahead in the total number of infections too, 12,296 and is followed by Gujarat and Delhi with 5,064 and 4,122 cases.
India on Friday extended the nationwide lockdown for the second time for two weeks till May 17.
However, the Central government has given some relaxations after classifying the states as "red", "orange", and "green" zones on the basis of the number of COVID-19 cases and deaths.
