Arms and ammunition recovered during CASO in North Kashmir’s Sopore

Srinagar: Arms and ammunition were recovered during a combing and search operation (CASO) in North Kashmir’s Sopore. The seizure was made during a joint security operation conducted in the Manzseer area of Sopore by the Special Operations Group (SOG) Sopore in coordination with 52 Rashtriya Rifles (RR), CRPF 177 Battalion, and CRPF 179 Battalion, said officials.

The operation was carried out under the jurisdiction of Police Station Tarzoo as part of a search operation in the area.

During the search, the joint forces recovered a cache of arms and ammunition from an abandoned house belonging to a Kashmiri Pandit family, which had reportedly migrated from the area in 1990.

According to the information available, the recovered material includes one AK-47 rifle, three magazines, 72 rounds of ammunition, four hand grenades, and one improvised explosive device (IED).

The recovered arms and ammunition have been taken into custody by the authorities as per established procedure.

Further investigation is underway to ascertain the source, ownership, and circumstances surrounding the recovery, officials said.
