Terminator is back! Netflix's anime reboot Terminator Zero drops trailer

The first official trailer for Terminator Zero is finally out and we are intrigued to watch more of what this dark artificial intelligence being has up his sleeve against the whole of humanity. Terminator Zero is Netflix's Terminator franchise reboot.

The teaser trailer is set in Japan and introduces us to a world where the animated character Eiko, a resistance fighter voiced by Sonoya Mizuno, is sent back in time to protect Malcolm Lee (André Holland) as he develops Kokoro or an advanced artificial intelligence as a rival to the malicious Skynet and its impending attack on humanity.

Sonoya Mizuno can be heard saying, “There’s only one thing standing between you and him… Me!” Mizuno currently stars in the House of Dragon, HBO’s spinoff of Game of Thrones.

Mizuno in the video can be seen saying this as she aims a gun at a dystopian cyborg assassin from the future.

Terminator Zero is an animation series by Netflix from The Batman II writer Mattson Tomlin. It is set to release on August 29.

Interestingly, Terminator Zero will clash with the premiere of another cult show spinoff, The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power on Amazon Prime Video.

Terminator Zero Cast

The Terminator Zero voice cast includes Timothy Olyphant voicing the Terminator, Rosario Dawson as Kokoro and Ann Dowd as The Prophet, a philosophical guide for the human resistance helping shepherd survivors in the darkness of the unknown future ahead.

What is Terminator Zero about?

The official synopsis of the anime film explains: "Terminator Zero will be set in 2022 where a future war has raged for decades between the few human survivors and an endless army of machines, and 1997 where the AI known as Skynet has gained self-awareness and has begun its war against humanity."

Terminator Zero will have eight episodes and hails from Japanese animation studio Production IG.It is directed by Masashi Kudo.

The show will also haveTomlin as its showrunner, writer and executive producer alongwith David Ellison, Dana Goldberg and Don Granger executive producing for Skydance.
