Justin Bieber has opened up about how the 'black culture' has influenced in shaping his career. The 26-year-old opened up about his career and how the Black culture inspired him on a post on Instagram.
"I am inspired by black culture. I have benefited off of black culture," he wrote. "My style, how I sing, dance, perform, and my fashion has all been influenced and inspired by black culture."
He concluded by saying, "I am committed to using my platform from this day forward to learn, to speak up about racial injustice and systemic oppression, and to identify ways to be a part of much needed change."
The singer has been vocal in his support for the Black Lives Matter movement in aftermath of George Floyd's death.
Bieber has been using his social media platforms to spread awareness about the movement, including quotes from Malcolm X and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
Bieber's declaration comes amid a period of civil unrest in America over the death of George Floyd while in police custody. Floyd died in Minneapolis on May 25 after now-former police officer Derek Chauvin was seen kneeling on his neck for over eight minutes.
Since his death, protests and erupted in various parts of America with many celebrities joining in to condemn the act.
