After Love & War, Sanjay Leela Bhansali is reportedly gearing up for another major project. The filmmaker is expected to begin work on a biopic on legendary actress Madhubala, with Sara Arjun set to lead the yet-to-be-titled film.
As per Mid-Day, the Madhubala biopic could commence filming in September, and the project is expected to take over the same location where Bhansali is currently completing the final portions of Love & War: Royal Palms in Goregaon, Mumbai.
"After the ‘Love & War’ shoot concludes at the end of August, the production design team of the Madhubala biopic will start work on transforming the space. The film is expected to roll in September," a source told the publication.
Bhansali's upcoming biopic will star Sara Arjun as Madhubala. The actor recently gained attention for her role as Yalina Jamali in the Dhurandhar franchise.
"Sara has started preparing for the role. Jasmeet wants to capture Madhubala’s personality, mannerisms, and the world she inhabited," the source added.

The film will reportedly be directed by Jasmeet K Reen, renowned for helming Alia Bhatt and Shefali Shah's Darlings. Bhansali is associated with the project as its producer.
The biopic had reportedly seen delays earlier, mainly due to financial concerns.
The details about the project are yet to be revealed.

The filmmaker is currently finishing Love & War. It stars Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal in the lead roles. As per reports, Bhansali is working on the final stretch of the film, with the last song being filmed at Royal Palms.
The upcoming film marks Bhansali's reunion with Ranbir nearly two decades after Saawariya. He is also collaborating with Alia again after Gangubai Kathiawadi, and the film marks his first collaboration with Vicky as a lead actor.
Set against a wartime backdrop, Love & War is currently expected to hit theatres on January 21, 2027.
