On Wednesday (Sep 11), Australia beat England by 28 runs in the three-match T20I series opener at The Rose Bowl, Southampton. Riding on Travis Head's quickfire23-ball 59, Sean Abbott's 3 for 28 and two wickets each for Josh Hazlewood and Adam Zampa, the Aussies defeated the Jos Buttler-less Englandby 28 runs after posting 179and dismissing the hosts for 151, with four balls to spare.
During the clash, Australia openers Head and Matthew Short (26-ball 41) started off confidently, with the former going berserk from the word go. While he fell inside the powerplay, on the last ball of the sixth over, Head made the scoreboard moving at a rapid pace with his inning laced with8 fours and 4 sixes, (striking at a whopping 256.62).
In the fifth over, stand-in captain Phil Salt introduced Sam Curran into the attack but the move fell flat as Head smashed him for 30 runs, including three 4s and equal number of 6s.

Head was adjudged Player-of-the-Match for his blitz. The second and penultimate T20I will be held on Friday (Sep 13) at the Sophia Gardens, Cardiff.
