Israeli military claimed that they struck a site in southern Lebanon that was used by Hezbollah operatives on Sunday (June 30). In one incident, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) said that a Hezbollah member was seen entering a building in the town of Houla that was struck by an Israeli airstrike shortly after other operatives gathered.

The IDF added that in a separate attack, a Hezbollah operative was spotted inside a building used by Hezbollah in Kafr Kila, which too was struck.

Earlier, Iran-backed Hezbollah said it fired 'dozens'of rockets on Thursday (June 27) at a military base in northern Israel in retaliation for Israeli strikes on Lebanon.

Fears of an all-out war between Israel and Hezbollah have gone up in recent weeks amid intensifying threats between the two sides who trade regular cross-border fire since Hamas attacked Israel on October 7 that consequently sparked an all-out war in the Gaza Strip.

Hamas ally Hezbollah said that "in response to the enemy attacks that targeted the city of Nabatiyeh and village of Sohmor", its fighters bombed "the main air and missile defence base of the (Israeli) northern area command... with dozens of Katyusha rockets".

The Israeli military had said in a statement that "approximately 35 launches were identified crossing from Lebanon".

Air defences "successfully intercepted most of the launches. No injuries were reported," it added.

Meanwhile, Iran on Saturday (June 29) warned that "all Resistance Fronts", a grouping of Iran and its regional allies, would confront Israel if it attacks Lebanon.

In a post on social media platform X, the Iranian mission said it "deems as psychological warfare the Zionist regime's propaganda about intending to attack Lebanon".

But, it added, "Should it embark on full-scale military aggression, an obliterating war will ensue. All options, incl. the full involvement of all Resistance Fronts, are on the table."

Iran, which backs Hamas, has praised the Oct 7 attack as a success but has denied any involvement.
