Usha, wife of JD Vance, faces racist attacks from white supremacists

Usha, wife of JD Vance, faces racist attacks from white supremacists

Usha Vance and JD Vance

JD Vance's wife Usha Chilukuri Vance has become the target of white supremacists and trolls after the Republican leader was picked as the vice president candidate by Donald Trump at the start of the week. Indian-origin Chilukuri is an accomplished lawyer by profession and she has been with JD since they met at Yale University in 2014 during their law degree course.

JD Vance's memoir describes her as his “Yale spirit guide". He credits her for helping him navigate life at the elite university where they met. The couple has three children.

Despite being the 'ideal' wife with an accomplished professional and personal life, many in the far-right spectrum of US politics have launched hate attacks onUsha.

“There is an obvious Indian coup taking place in the U.S. right before our eyes,"Stew Peters, a far-right internet personality, posted a photo of the couple and wrote.

"Who is this guy, really? Do we really expect that the guy who has an Indian wife and named their kid Vivek is going to support white identity?" said Nick Fuentes, another far-right commentatoron his podcast.

Fuentes even went on the 'non-traditional' marriage of Usha and JD whilst describing the latter as a 'power-hungry' sociopath.

"Another power-hungry sociopath with the put-on folksy Rustbelt act, obligatory non-combat tour in the Middle East, non-traditional marriage, and conspicuously rapid political ascendancy,"

Vance is the Republican Pete Buttigieg.

Meanwhile, some blamed Usha for the 'Sikh' prayer said by Harmeet Dhillon at theRepublic National Convention (RNC).

JD Vance gets tapped as VP and immediately there’s a Hindu prayer at the RNC.

Next we’ll see @SenMikeLee and @JDVance1 team up to convince trump to let in 10 million Indian immigrants.

Who is JD Vance?

Vance, aged 39, is a Senator from Ohio since 2022. If elected, he will be the youngest vice president of the US ever. He is seen as a supporter of Trump's America First ideas based on populism and isolationism.

In his acceptance speech, Vance, who hails from an industrial town in Ohio, pledged to fight for the working class if elected.

"Mr President, I will never take for granted the trust you have put in me. And what an honour it is to help achieve the extraordinary vision that you have for this country," said Vance.

"Now I pledge to every American, no matter your party, I will give you everything I have to serve you and to make this country a place where every dream you have for yourself, your family and your country will be possible once again."

Less than two years after assuming his first public office, he has gone from a Trump critic to one of his staunchest supporters.
