New anchor tries to eat world's hottest chip goes terribly wrong
A local news anchor in Denver gamely agreed to try the "one chip challenge" during Wednesday's morning show, and it did not go well.
A local news anchor in Denver gamely agreed to try the "one chip challenge" during Wednesday's morning show, and it did not go well.
KWGN anchor Natalie Tysdal of Denver’s “Daybreak” show was roped into a stunt when she and the rest of the crew gathered to try the obscenely spicy Paqui chip made with the Carolina Reaper pepper. As to avoid underselling the chip’s potency, the packaging is cherry red and is illustrated with a drawing of the grim reaper.
People are also trying this challenge and posting videos on the company's website. People tried with milk or ice cream sadly for Tysdal all she had was a cup of coffee.
Later Natalie Tysdal shared on Facebook about the result of that fiery chip saying "I was okay until I had a drink of my coffee to wash down the chip. I threw up, couldn't breathe and felt like fire was coming out of my mouth".
Things may have gone wrong for Tysdal because while her coworkers prepped for the culinary torture by eating milk and other dairy products in advance, Tysdal went into the experiment with just a belly full of coffee.
