Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Monday that Iran went after his family and tried to assassinate one of his two sons. Netanyahu made the revelation during a phone interview with the pro-government Channel 14 while discussing security arrangements for his family and other political figures ahead of the country’s elections.
The remarks came after months of strict gag orders around security-related matters.
Netanyahu, however, did not identify which of his two sons was allegedly targeted, nor did he provide details about when or how the attempt took place.

“Iran targeted one of my sons. Iran tried to kill, to murder one of my sons,” Netanyahu said, without providing further details.

“Therefore, the security they get is not a luxury,” he adds, seemingly defending an agreement reached with the Shin Bet to provide his sons, alongside his wife, Sara, with security protection for at least five years, even if he loses the upcoming election. Without that security, “they would succeed,” he said, referring to the would-be assassins.
It is unclear which of Netanyahu’s sons—Yair or Avner—was allegedly targeted, or when and how the purported assassination attempt took place.
While Avner lives in Israel, Yair has spent much of the past few years in Miami and is known for his hardline right-wing commentary.
The alleged assassination plot has been known to the Israeli security establishment for several months but was barred from publication by the military censor, said a report.
Palestinian planning to commit terror attack in Israel nabbed: IDF
Israeli commandos nabbed a Palestinian in the West Bank city of Jenin on Monday morning who the military says was planning to carry out a terror attack in Israel.
The suspect was identified as Imam Hazem, the son of Fathi Hazem, who was killed while trying to stab Israeli troops in Jenin last week. Fathi’s other son, Imam’s brother Raad Hazem, is a terrorist who killed three Israelis in Tel Aviv in 2022.
Following Fathi’s killing, Imam “expressed his intentions to carry out a terror attack against Israeli civilians and security forces,” the military said.
Soldiers of the Duvdevan Commando Unit apprehended Imam, the army said.
In a separate raid in the village of Sanur near Jenin on Sunday, troops detained a Palestinian who was planning a terror attack against Israeli civilians.
