An Indian man was arrested on Monday for allegedly "masturbating and exposing himself" on an Etihad flight from Abu Dhabi to Boston, USA Today reported.

As per District of Massachusetts court records, 39-year-old Krishna Kunapuli made unwanted sexual advances towards a female passenger before engaging in the sexual act while being seated next to two other passengers.

Federal authorities charged Krishna Kunapuli with one count of lewd, indecent and obscene acts while in the special aircraft jurisdiction of the United States.

The criminal complaint states that Kunapuli touched the woman's hair and told her "she was beautiful". He even took her pictures without her permission and made an indecent proposal, asking her to spend a night with him in Boston.

As per the charging document, he continued to engage in lewd conversation with the woman until a crew member intervened and asked him to return to his window seat.

Passengers saw him masturbating

Later, two male passengers sitting next to him noticed him masturbating under the blanket. They say that his genitals were fully exposed on a few occasions.

One of them informed the flight attendant about it who immediately notified law enforcement about it.

The criminal complaint further states that when the attendant went up to Kunapuli, his pants were unzipped and he was actively masturbating. As soon as he was confronted, he zipped up his pants and apologised, as per the documents.

After being removed from the flight, Kunapuli admitted to the investigators that he was masturbating on the plane.

As per a Justice Department release, Kunapuli faces up to 90 days in prison, a $5,000 fine and one year of supervised release.
