A horrific series of shootings has left three women dead, including the gunman's mother,in a violent rampage that unfolded across multiple locations in Florida on Monday (June 24) night.

The suspect, identified as 28-year-old Javontee Brice, was later fatally shot down by police.

Motive unclear

Manatee County Sheriff Rick Wells said Brice "seemed to have an agenda" and "knew exactly who he wanted to kill." However, the motive behind the deadly rampage remains unclear.

"We don't know what set this man off. We don't know why he chose to kill his loved ones," Wells said. "We may never know, but we're going to continue to investigate."

Brice's family is said to be "devastated" by the loss of his mother and cousin.

Authorities are now working to interview relatives to try and determine what Brice may have been going through in the days leading up to the tragic events.
