Saif Ali Khan will make his Netflix debut with an original series "Sacred Games"based on author Vikram Chandra's best-sellingnovel by the same name.
Sacred Games will be produced in partnership with Phantom Films and will be shot in India.It will be available to the streaming giant's 100 million members in over 190 countries.
The vice president of Netflix, Erik Barmack, expressedhisdelightat having Saif Ali Khan on board for the series.
“Saif Ali Khan is a true pioneer and risk-taker in Indian cinema, and we could not be more delighted to be working with him on Sacred Games,” he said.
He said Saif's role in the series is complex and layered.
The story weaves itself around Mumbai's intricate web of organised crime, corruption, politics and espionage.
Saif himself said he was extremely satisfied to be part of the first original series from India to be aired on Netflix.
He also lauded the company, saying "the crown in the digital empire lies with Netflix".
