Fadnavis had announced a farm loan waiver on 24 June after several days of protest by farmers.

The pressure was intensified after the Yogi Adityanath government announced Krishi Rin Mochan Yojana which aimed at waiving off the farmer's loan.

The Maharashtra state government had previously allocated Rs 34,022 crore for waiving off farmers loan. However recent reports say that the chief minister was not sure about the real estimates as several amendments were introduced after the announcement of the scheme.

Over 10 million farmers in Maharashtra have enrolled themselves for this scheme.

The state government has also introduced an online system to curb manual manipulations.

The amount of the loan waiver will be deposited directly into the bank accounts of the farmers.

Recently the farmers of Uttar Pradesh were in a state of shock and felt cheated after they received as low as Rs 10, Rs 1 and even 1 paisa as part of the Krishi Rin Mochan Yojana.
