AIUDF Chief Badruddin Ajmal today lashed out at the Army Chief Bipin Rawat's comment saying that, "if the Army chief is saying that demographic change is happening in Assam then it is the government's job to check it".
Ajmal spoke in Guwahati and noted that their party had said that "shoot anyone who infiltrates into our borders".
Army Chief General Bipin Rawat earlier spoke at a conference in Delhi on securing borders in India's Northeast region. He noted that migration from Bangladesh into India is "planned" and that it is a part of a proxy war by Pakistan supported by China, to keep India's Northeast region on the boil.
Rawat noted that the AIUDF (All India United Democratic Front) has grown faster in Assam than the BJP over the years. The AIUDF is led by Badruddin Ajmal.

"When we talk of Jan Sangh with two MPs and where they have reached, AIUDF is moving at a faster pace in the state of Assam," said Rawat.
Reacting to Army Chief's comments, the AIUDF chief noted that although he respects General Rawat, he thinks that "he (Rawat) has been misinformed and misguided.
Ajmal also noted that he has already sought time to meet the President, the Prime Minister and the Home Minister.
"Our MLA delegation will meet and clarify our position. Whenever I meet the Home Minister, he meets me warmly and addresses me as 'Badruddin Bhai'. If we were anti-national would he welcome me?"
